You will go blind reading papers like that..... Realsit bear would be all over an article about gold apearing from nothing, not disapearing.

    GOLD

Im all in except about 10k which will go in on a dip. This is not really a dip. I want to see much lower prices before I buy some more G&S. Why would I want to swap some of my metals for some recently created digits? Id like to buy property but that is still too expensive even priced in G&S. My advice (learnt the hard way!) look at a five year chart of gold and judge for yourself if it was best to trade or just buy and hold. Oh and look at the so called dip too!

Im sorry, you are correct. I thought the Heraeus bars had numbers but they don't, I just checked. I wish I was mistaken about them being silver, that they had numbers and were gold!

The Heraeus bars are thiner, wider and longer, nicely finished on the tops. The Umicore bars are as well finished on the tops but as the tops are smaller due to the bars being thicker, the sides and base have folds and casting features. Also, I think Im right in saying that the Umicore bars are made from recycled silver. Im not too fussed but I prefer the Heraeus bars.

I have both of those bars. The heraeus bars are nicer than the Unicore bars. Neither came with certificates and both have numbers on. They are equal IMO as they are both recognised kilo bars. Anyone see this in the telegraph BTW? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbys...s.html?image=12

    GOLD

I value your opinion RH, although Im firmly in the goldbug hyperinflation anti government view. I think its a dumb idea to hold dollars as they are at the heart of the problem and will ultimately fail IMO, but the dollar rallied in 2008 when most expected it to crash. So you might be right in your strategy one day, but for me, its "buy and hold silver and gold" (hey a nice little rhyme) The thing that impresses me most about you is that you dont get abusive or worked up,regardless of what others say to you. It would be nice if you acknowledged when you were wrong or when others were right though.

The bars on the left look like lead to me. They have a white bloom which is typical of older lead. The bars on the right look like chinese bars. I would consider buying them if they were really cheap but only paying by pay pal using a credit card. Get assayed, if their silver, great, if not claim a refund off paypal or credit card and the only loss would be the cost of assaying and the missing out on owning the real stuff. But I would not bother as Im OK for silver thanks

Ah the good old A380 Rolls Royce engines, the best of British maufacturing will save the day.... $1410.... ouch, wheres G0ldfingers correction gone? RE: Radio 4 "start the week", It was interesting that Gillian Tett (who has a very sexy lisp IMO) said that she was not worried about gold being in a bubble but more worried about other bubbles such as US treasuries...

Yes I heard most of it. I will try and find it on the BBCi player. It was Andrew Marr, start the week talking to Gillian Tett from the FT. Very interesting and worth a listen. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00vr...eek_08_11_2010/ Its the first item after the news...

What is the inflation adjusted high price of gold? $2300? I heard that figure at least 3 years ago, so it must need revising upwards. And what about all the inflation in the pipe, or baked in the cake, yet to come?

UK House prices: News & Views

I will take you up on that at £20, just for fun. If houses dont crash by that amount it will be because the currency has. So gold will be even heigher. I believe both houses will crash and the currency, but I'm easy...

An interesting article about silver which includes: ....the US Mint is expected to release a new five-ounce silver bullion coin this year, the first ever. The coin will be three inches in diameter and have a composition of .999 fine silver. I've read the five-ounce bullion coins will be near-exact replicas of the America the Beautiful quarters. There will reportedly be five different designs, and the mint plans to produce 100,000 of each. I can't wait to see them. http://seekingalpha.com/article/232995-mor...llish-on-silver

I’ve noticed a change in sentiment on ebay. Commemorative coins such as the one in the link used to sell for about £12 and now they are selling for over £20. They seem to be going for the same price as a bullion coin now, where before they went at scrap value, which is daft as they are nicely made proof coins with some history. I know silver has gone up a bit but not that much. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-OUNCE-SILVER-PROOF...utorefresh=true
