    SILVER

Just been chatting with a friend about how ridiculously cheap silver was back in 09 - an ounce of silver could be bought for the same amount as two packets of cigarettes!! Edit: Sorry, I realised I am on the 2009 thread not 2011!

I am starting to question some of the opinions of Sinclair of late. He is showing a complete ignorance of metallurgy when he talks about 'mixing lead and tungsten'. Simple thermal or electrical tests are sufficient for testing - no need for drilling or radiation. He says 'we know coins have been adulterated for years' - really? I have never seen an adulterated coin - and a dealer I know has not either. Why is Sinclair deliberately trying to instill doubt into people's minds with this misinformation? Perhaps he is behind 'well established coin dealers' and wants you to buy from him! Edit: Silver has a density of 10.5 and lead is 11.35 so I would like to see how the density of silver can be matched by a 'mixture of lead and tungsten' when tungsten has a density of 19.25!!

No-one seems to have commented on the (possible) link between the obvious imperial over-reach of the US in Afghanistan - another 30 000 men going into the meat-grinder and the desire to own gold and silver as evidenced by 1200 USD. I see a lot of comments and opinions based on charts but very little on the bigger picture.

Please let us know how you managed it - I cannot see any way of buying silver.

Heard it - the guy came across well and stood his ground despite the patronising tone of Nils Blythe. It was telling that at the conclusion, the female presenter announced Friday's closing price of gold - and added that as it was so high she may sell her earrings.
  6. Of course - Stan Herbert. You are, you are
  7. An interesting (bordering on the hysterical) day here on this thread: The thread title was/was not - was/was not - was/was not changed. Gold fell 45 then shot back up. The owner of the site started to 'potty mouth' but was not banned. Millions in bullion may or may not be owned by someone. A welcome return of 'loadsamoney' Harry Enfield. The Pied Piper of Hamelin used as propaganda for fiat believers - and then cleverly turned back on them by more skilful hands. Aliveandkicking turns up late and talks some sense! What a day
  8. Good to have a recap for those with short memories or those swayed by the latest opinion! I would add one more - rich people taking physical delivery of bullion
  9. As a nutter who insists on trying to support an obviously broken fiat system, you are right to pick on Pixel8r - someone who has consistently shared his own (correct) insights into what is unfolding. It is not too late to swallow your pride, admit you are wrong and get on board

Yes, I thought Goldfinger may have been a time-traveller but it seems that CGANO really is - no wonder he understands what is coming!

The use of gold and silver represent the reality that the promises of other men cannot be trusted.

Men throughout the ages have chosen gold and silver as a store of wealth. What do they know? The fools.
  13. Ah! I see - you do not like the opinions of others if they are not aligned with your own and wish them to be banned. Are you a book burner as well?

Anyone have any opinions about Swiss bullion rounds? Seem even cheaper than Krugerrands and have a nice simple Swiss look. http://www.coininvestdirect.com/main.php?a=12&id=328

Good simple overview of silver's potential here: http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article15315.html Making the point that even a 10 fold increase in price would not deter manufacturers from using silver (in small quantities) in their products.

I saw this article - and wondered what effect it would have on those who are partly aware of what is happening. My impression is that a good few readers of that article are going to think that if the 'rich' are loading up with bullion then perhaps they should get a few ounces as well!

Ok. Thank you for replying. I recall that recently, there was an alleged incident where someone was offered a 25 percent premium not to take delivery (cannot recall the source). This led me to the following train of thought: While it is still possible to buy physical bullion and the price of this bullion is related to the spot price, everything seems ok. I do not know the volume of the sales to the public - perhaps they are too small to matter but at some point must come a widening of the price between physical and spot - which will occur as a result of wholesalers becoming nervous about their ability to restock physical at a similar price (or at all!) in the future. I wonder if this widening of price between paper-gold and gold will trigger a vicious price-spiral which would ultimately lead to a 'bank run' on bullion.

Quiet here - is everyone tired from all the excitement? I posted a question earlier regarding a possible coordinated buying strategy designed to hammer the shorts - has anyone an opinion?

Does anyone think that the price is being moved by cunning longs possibly from the East - or is it normal buying?

Pluto, 1. Do you think we are seeing an Oriental strategy at work here - to break the shorts? 2. If a lot of short positions have to be covered tomorrow, what effect on price when they have to buy back in? 1200?

Thanks for the heads-up. I am sure some bargain hounds here managed to get some in time but were disappointed when they went back after 48 hours to load up with some more

That offer on the Libertads did not last long!
  23. My theory about Goldfinger's identity is based on the known facts: 1. German with an excellent command of English but with a poor understanding of colloquial usage especially swearing. 2. Appears prudish. 3. Great attention to detail. Therefore, my guess is that he is Prince Albert who has time-travelled into the future using technology invented by Nikola Tesla.

In other words, the POG may remain static because the 'lost trust quotient' is not being translated into rising prices but rather by buying physical.
