NettleBaron
it would work better if there was only one planet (less alien, more like earth) also maybe reduce the color palette - I know this seems odd. but I have seen very effective comms that use a palette of two colors (+ one alternate) and black & white. shaping up tho! less like the current "The Good Life" logo ...without the petals falling off. Heheh The difficulty with this is I started out redoing what already existed and then extending it again by adding an existing element while trying to stay true to the original designs. Maybe if I just can manage to get the revamp done we could start from scratch and do a new one? I'm in the same camp of preferring to keep it simple, restrained and I've tried to tone down the colouring but didn't want to take that too far from the original. With the "incorporating" part added to the side I've also tried to keep roughly true to the original in an attempt to keep the flow of the identity from the old to the new. Anyway, I've darkened behind the yellow sphere slightly to bring it to the foreground, think it works better. smaller version I'm working on a website for myself at the moment and hadn't touched any web design for a good ten years so this is kind of a retrial by fire heh.... bdon
Dr Bubb, can we just split off the two sites (cross linking obviously) but brand and identity is terribly important and green investors (eco + new) will have a different perspective from global investors I know you are passionate about both but they are different. delegate! NettleBaron
Frizzers, I've been having some real problems with doing you a 300x300 logo! The thing with having a play around with the GEI logo was that the layout and colour scheme was already in place and it was just a question of having a quick tweak to come up with an alternative or two. In the case of a picture for your CWR site (excellent site btw!) there are a few hurdles. If you had something more specific in mind it would make it easier bearing in mind this is in my spare time, I normally work in 3D so this isnt really my field (I've just put my size tens in is all) The main problem I'm having is that a logo would normally go overall with the style of its environment and CWR is a very business-like site. I just don't feel adequate enough to blend in with what you've already got there! I could have just used a picture of you and put the site name on but to be honest I don't think it works well like that. One small error I noticed while looking at your site is your existing photo with the red text is actually much bigger than is actually being displayed...this is a bit sloppy and the way that the browser has to resample the image down is wasteful and mucks up the picture. The code specifies 150x150 so if you resave the image at that size and upload it it will work much better and look better too. I've mocked up a quick bitmap to show one way it could look, its really hasty but incorporates a motif (ripple) that I think might work quiet well as an idea you could use and also as a faint background image too (I know you like waves!) This helps illustrate how the logo works but blends in too with its environment. Anyway, sorry for the rambling and probably not actually coming up with anything useful for you (We've hijacked DB's thread too!)
drbubb
(We've hijacked DB's thread too!) That's no problem. Thanks for your work on this, NB. I am having problems getting your logo up. I think Invision change the location of something. But I will spend some time on that project this weekend, if not sooner

Bubble Pricker
Baron, here's my 2p: Clearly visible colour artifacts in both "planets" - nasty The logo looks far too much like outer space - get rid of one planet, add some earth contours on the planet beneath Global Ede Investors and change the planet under Green Energy Investors to a sun. Maybe you can even morph the background colour into green towards the right hand side. I would try to make to make the whole "incorporating Green Energy Investors" part smaller. It is too prominent I also need a logo designed for Berlin Property Investments. Are you interested. You will be paid for your work product. But I need professional vector graphics, not the low-res artifacty stuff on here.
NettleBaron
Thanks for your comments BP, it all helps. Yes, I totally agree with you about the artefacts, I think they were introduced by DB as he is experimenting with different colours and it probably got introduced somehow when the colours were resaved...or something. Possibly my fault! ...or if you mean the graininess of the colours in the image it is a product of it being saved as a 256 colour gif. I was trying to keep to the same format as original which means the colours are palletized and make smooth gradients appear "chunkier". I need to ask DB if he'd prefer a smoother jpg instead. As to a logo for BPI, I am interested. If you could send me a clear brief of your requirements and a rough idea of your budget (samples of suitable colours in a bitmap format might be useful too) I'll see if I can make a beta version of your idea and get that back to you. If you don't like where its going then no probs we'll call it quits, no fee (unless you want to buy me a beer for my time!) If its to your liking and you want to proceed then we can hammer out a price to take it further. pm me if you like for my email.

Why dont we live with it (including the two planets thing) for a awhile, a few months probably. Then maybe take out the rght planet, or just have more "sunshine" on the letters at right the new one ...is a big improvement over what I started with ... the smaller : And the "even smaller" version: - - Logo for the Podcast: Wth imbedded link: xxx linked to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNeCetQeLLU - - DrBubb Avatars .. Funnily enough, I have been aware of this possible likeness all along - it isnt the first time that I have pointed this out on HPC. In fact, I kept the Logo on GHPC simply because of the possibility the market will peak out when the mountain said it should By the way, it traces out a final 5th-of-5th wave after the 2004-5 pause BTW, I want to keep a "human face" on GEI, so I may stock with the current logo. At least until I can feel unreservedly bullish on the Stock market. That may never happen.

drbubb
A bit more eye catching "Be afraid, very afraid" Nice work. Let's shrink it a bit so it's the same height as the top banner (484 x 76 pixels) And place it in the upper right corner of this page for a few weeks. Maybe I can persuade to put a button or banner on CW Radio?
Steve Netwriter
I've slowed it down a bit. It doesn't shrink to that size, so I've adjusted it. Any good ?
