We put the funds from the SMC sale to work,  taking a small share in a placement

(I shared the following comment with my Mentee, before she agreed to participate)

1bNhFwI.gif

MCI / Minnova Corp., one to watch?

"MCI  is doing a placement at 20 cents net price. (with half warrants.)  I have agreed to take some and can share with you.  You have some cash after selling SMC.  And I suggest you put it into the placement.   As I have heard from someone close to the company, there will be lots of news flow, because they are raising this money to put their mine back in production... and to hire new people to build up the company."

Until now, MCI has been a "one man band", and that held the share price back.   A new future is coming...

(Here's a interview, and plant inspection by the Company's CEO giving an indication of the potential)

Wow!  What a great day for our new stock !

MCI / Minnova ... from April 2020 / Last:  $0.36 +0.11, +44%

Icpjur9.gif

We took a small share in the placement, being done at a net price of 20 cents

So the C$600 investment (3,000 MCI shares) Is now worth x $0.36=. $1,080: +$480  (ignoring the wts.)

That's up 80% from our cost.

However, this investment will be subject to a 4 months hold from the closing of the placement.

2021-01-25 09:12 C:VGLD 0.275 News Release Vangold Mining increases financing to $14.55-million

VANGOLD BEGINS DRILLING AT EL PINGUICO

Drilling has commenced at Vangold Mining Corp.'s El Pinguico silver-gold property located seven kilometres south of Guanajuato, Mexico. This initial drill program will consist of 12 to 14 drill holes and will be conducted underground, within old workings at the historic El Pinguico mine.

Underground drill purchase

On Sept. 24, 2020, Vangold announced that it had purchased its own portable drill rig for use underground at El Pinguico. After examining numerous alternatives, the company decided to order an Explorer-75E core drill rig from Grupo Ingetrol SA de CV of Torreon, Mexico. Among other desirable attributes, this drill is small enough to fit into many of the adits, drifts and galleries of El Pinguico's old workings, while still being able to target the long strike length of potential new in situ material of the main El Pinguico and San Jose vein systems.

. . . Results of the drill program will be announced as soon as the assays are received and fully interpreted by the company.

Vangold's El Pinguico project

El Pinguico is a high-grade gold and silver deposit that was mined from the early 1890s until 1913. Toward the end of that period, it was mined exclusively by The Pinguico Mines Company of New York, whose shares traded on the Boston and New York stock exchanges. The mining was done principally from the El Pinguico and El Carmen veins, which are thought to be splays off the Mother vein (Veta Madre).  The Veta Madre is associated with a megafault that outcrops for 25 kilometres and is the most important source of precious metal mineralization in the region

VANGOLD INCREASES PLACEMENT TO $14,550,000

Vangold Mining Corp., due to increased demand and to allow for participation from existing securityholders who may not otherwise qualify as accredited investors, has expanded the size of its non-brokered private placement financing announced Dec. 23, 2020, and expanded on Jan. 19, 2021. The private placement will now consist of a total of 48.5 million units at a price of 30 cents per unit for gross proceeds of $14.55-million. Each unit will consist of one common share of the company and one-half of a common share purchase warrant; with each warrant entitling the holder to purchase an additional common share of the company at a price of 45 cents within three years of closing, subject to acceleration in certain events.

The Vangold trade is working!  Could be a nice winner.

Remember, the CDN portfolio was started with just C$1,300. And now this single position is worth 4,700 x $0.49 = C$2,303

And that is ignoring the "free" half warrants ( 2,350 wts @ $0.45).  Only problem is realizing big profits might be the 4 months Hold period. with more than 3 months yet to go on that.

Staying Strong, if VGLD moves above 50 cents, it could make a push towards $1.00+

VGLD / Vangold ... from 2013: 2016; : last $0.49 + 0.055

CAPTURING A QUICK & ABNORMAL PROFIT

My Mentee participated in the recent private placement for Vangold at 30 cents.

VGLD stock (charts: 10d; 12mo: 2016) has since run up quickly to over 50 cents...

RMmhdfT.gif

12mo:

TNwiiNV.gif

I was in the fortunate position of owning VGLD stock from a lower price (16 cents), with warrants that I can exercise into Freetrading stock.

The warrants I own have a strike of 25 cents, and I was prepared to exercise some of them, if I could sell the shares high enough.

Mentee agreed to give up her 4,700 shares (+ the wts. at 45 cents), if I would sell the stock now, using my freetrading stock from the wts.

We agreed if my open order at 53 cents got hit, I would take her stock, so long as she threw in the warrants, That happened yesterday.

(I will record the following trade for the Mentee Portfolio):

VGLD: 4,700 shares = x 0.53= C$2,491 - (Cost at 0.30= $1,410) = Profit: C$ 1,081 (x 38.5= P 41,618)

We will look for other target shares in which to invest the VGLD proceeds.

WINDFALL INVESTED ... in SMD / Strategic Metals

My Mentee's windfall from the quick move up in Vangold has been invested:

VGLD: 4,700 shares = x 0.53= C$2,491, Received... locking in a C$1,081 profit

... and invested as follows: - in Strategic Metals, SMD.t

WEHleR5.gif

SMD : 6,400 shares = x 0.39= C$2,496 = $2,491 + $5 Cash used

I call SMD, "stuffed with value", and it has a book value of 51 cents per share

... including other shares (about 70% of Market Cap) + Cash (20%)

with zero debt, and ongoing royalty income... plus Mt Hinton, an interesting gold & silver exploration project

The two portfolios were started at P 161,720 combined value in Q1 2020, and as of 3.31.2021 were at P 314,596, that is a rise of +94.5% over about one year.

Meantime, the benchmark PSEI index was down from 7,815 to 6,547, -16.2% - so I am claiming dramatic  outperformance.  And this is still true,  even if you take the PSEI from its March 2020 low of under 5,000. If we measure from 5,000 as a major low , at 6,547, PSEI is up just +30.9%

Focus on relative performance,  Everyone can make money when markets are going up.  The trick is... to make money when the Market indices are not rising, or sliding. Not easy.  But these two portfolios, when combined, show dramatic outperformance relative to ALL the indices!

( GDXJ:  Junior Gold Stock index.  Best proxy for the types of smaller mining & exploration companies that we buy )

The Headline results, were the best by far -> 17.79gm x 16.40m = a massive 292 gm-m "boxer"

WALLBRIDGE INTERSECTS 17.79 G/T AU OVER 16.40 METRES IN NEWLY DISCOVERED EASTERN EXTENSION OF THE GABBRO ZONES

Wallbridge Mining Company Ltd. has released results from its exploration drill program at the Fenelon gold property, with an intersection of 17.79 grams per tonne gold over 16.40 metres, including 76.98 g/t Au over 3.30 metres in a newly discovered eastern extension of the gabbro zones. This high-grade zone is located approximately 140 metres along strike to the east of, and 175 metres vertically below, the known part of the gabbro zones where Wallbridge completed a 33,500-tonne underground bulk sample in 2019 with an average grade of 18.49 grams per tonne gold. The mineralization is open for expansion with very few historic drill holes in the area.

"We are very excited about this new high-grade discovery hosted within the Main gabbro, 140 metres away from the known gabbro zones," stated Attila Pentek, vice-president, exploration, of Wallbridge. "This eastern extension of the Main gabbro, one of the important host rocks at Fenelon, has seen very limited drilling in the past, only with shallow 100-to-200-metre holes. This intersection is still close to surface, at a vertical depth of 300 metres, and is open in all directions."

A High grade gold on a step-up hole like this would have moved the stock up 1-2 years ago

Seems like the market is now awaiting Resource estimates, to see how big the Gold deposit(s) have become

"The company completed approximately 102,000 metres of drilling in 2020 and has begun a fully financed 2021 program of approximately 170,000 metres of drilling and 4,800 metres of underground exploration development (phase 1 of a 10,000-metre two-year program). The company intends to complete a maiden mineral resource on the Fenelon gold system in the third quarter of 2021."
