Extradry Martini has turned ueber-bearrish now that the Treasury said they won't guarantee Fannie/Freddie. However, I think they will anyway. Or the Fed will buy all this stuff at some stage. Give it some time, they have not much left. It's very bad now, they need to act soon.

Bernankes needs to get this chopper out and drop some. He loses credibility. The only thing that seems to stop them is some serious worries about the USD, I assume.

Ive heard that the next big bubble will be in green energy, so hopefully I will learn a bit here when the time comes to invest.

Regarding the Krugerrands on Ebay, Ive noticed that things are hotting up on with more buyers to compete with. I plan to sell some of my PM on ebay but not for a while yet. Its quite a good gauge of public awareness.

I read somewhere that it will be the next bubble with all the yanks politicians like Clinton/ Al Gore waving the Pom-Poms and trying to push awareness in green energy, now that property is fooked they need another one.

Yip things hotting up in Ebay i have 7 lurkers watching my 2.

``The credit-default swap market is completely distorting reality,'' said Henner Boettcher, treasurer of HeidelbergCement in Heidelberg, Germany, the country's biggest cement maker. ``Given what these spreads imply about defaults, we should be in a deep depression, and we are not.''

YET.

Are you not pretty gutted to be exchanging your gold for an insurance policy? Don't think I could stomach that

There are lots of krugerrands going on Ebay for about £525 including P&P. Yet you can get them on coininvestdirect.com for £505 incl P&P. I guess its best to wait until near auction end and check the spot price out before bidding. I will keep an eye on your coins and hope you get a good price. (or I will bid on them )

CTT has just justified the banishment of the Gold thread because in a poll 'only a 144 votes cast and a membership of nearly 10,000' - the poll actually showed only 19% of these approved the de-facto censorship of Gold, considering the chain-of-consciousness pap that occupies the main forum.

He knows full well most of these members are inactive. Hell, most of them have probably been banned for whistling on a Tuesday, or other crimes.

The poll was posted in the main forum and I voted. An hour or so later it was moved to the metals subforum where hardly anybody would see it.

I was tempted to post at the time to point out the discrepancy of a poll specifically concerning the main forum being in a quiet subforum, but couldn't be bothered.

It would have been pointless. I was never rude and indeed sometimes attempted to mediate reconciliation in spite of my being a relative newbie over there.

Their loss, if you ask me. I think it's better for us here and I'm much happier, especially now that DrBubb has said he's okay with it. And like GF said, hpc as a topic is history, it's just a matter now of watching the train career over the cliff.

G0ldfinger, I get the jist of the charts which I could certainly buy into. Could you expand on this Commercial Signal Failure idea for the uninformed please. Thanks

We're talking about a short squeeze in silver. Here's a start (from JSMineset/Dan Norcini):

“Notice that the commercial short category sharply reduced the number of outright short positions they have been carrying (-9,297). This occurred from Tuesday of last week through Tuesday of this week. Over that time frame, the price of silver rallied $1.22. If you look at the chart very carefully, you will observe that this is the first time this has occurred in which the funds HAVE NOT been reducing their net long position. In other words, this appears to be the beginnings of a commercial signal failure. Normally the commercial perma-shorts in silver have used fund long liquidation to cover their shorts as the market moved lower. Not this time - they are buying on the way up!

cgnao. Oh-oh.

http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=70135

1) USD in free fall

2) Distressed banks issuing margin calls across the board leading to hedge fund forced liquidations

3) Chaos in credit markets, spreads skyrocketing worldwide

4) Central banks in a bind

5) Technically ugly, huge H&S pattern looks like it wants to break down

But most importantly, I have just received a very worrying phone call.

Protect yourselves NOW.

Dear Friends,

$1000itus is a beauty to behold as all the traders run hither and thither, assuming all positions are to be avoided at any cost, either up or down.

It is really quite simple. A market like gold approaching a round number cannot stand a break out up or down of it most extreme trend line without making a dynamic move.

We have now had two regurgitations and one explosion.

More than likely this is the nature of gold from now on, increasing in volatility as the price rises.

Gold is going to $1650. Keep that in mind every time your tummy gurgles with fear.

Regards,

Jim

Is silver looking overbought?

here is a chart - IMO we need to consolidate here for a little while, macd looking a lot like just before the 2006 correction, rsi overbought.

post-1612-1204845680_thumb.png

i will not be accumulating for a little while, i'm hoping to see a consolidation like gold had around nov/dec 2007 (a classic bull kiss on the macd), else we may see a correction.

I've been exploring the investing Threads here investing etc, and saw the word derivatives,Etf, and so on,so i'm coming back here i am too scared to be investing in them.

I wonder have the people here like dr bubb etc, have got their certifcates in their procession, are do they leave them in the brokers office's safe. Paranoia creeping in after reading Jim Sinclair methinks.

I've been mentioning that on here for a while. I think until you lot arrived, I have probably been one of the most worried person on here.

Hence I only think in terms of allocated physical gold.

I think this is very important to the US$, and thus to gold/silver:

USJPY_080307.gif

But, I think we do have to bear in mind the potential for a Japan intervention at ~100.

So there might be a surprise bounce in the US$, which might I guess hit gold/silver at that time.

Dubai International Capital must've been misunderstood. On Thursday the firm said that, contrary to earlier reports, it has no privileged information about Citigroup and has no opinion about its current dire situation. This statement, however, directly contrasts words from the firm's own chief, who earlier in the week reportedly said Citi will need a lot of outside cash just to get by.
