Looks like Silver's trying to catch up with Gold...

Just touched $11.20... Up 90c in less than 24 trading hours.

Its good to see some silver action. I'd like to see it get back to $17+ relative to the current gold price.

This guy on ebay is selling 1 ounce silver chinese pandas for £14.99 each. He said that he would send free P&P if I got 25 off him. I think he is in Gurnsey and would be posting them out individually so as to get round a VAT regulation. They are cheap compared to CID who want £18.84 incl vat (£16.38 ex vat)

not worth risking it getting lost in the post TBH.

25 separate parcels? I dont fancy it. Whats the odds of one parcel getting lost 1 in 25?

Check if it is recorded delivery.

Hmm, good points. Still 25 seperate presents sounds fun! :P

It looks as if another coiling pattern is forming. Up or down from here? I can only see it going down from here. But I have been wrong the last time!

I'm considering selling some gold and using the cash to buy a lot more silver. I haven't finally decided yet.

Just ordered some silver coins from CoinInvestDirect - I suppose the new year means they start a new allowance of silver sales to Finland.

Just last week, I took some gold profits and swapped some gold for silver using goldmoney (metal-to-metal exchange). I think we won't see such an opportunity for a while, so its time to take the plunge and play the ratios...

Shouldn't CID be able to ship silver to the UK at the German VAT rate now it's the New Year? It's still at UK 15%. Though perhaps they've not update it yet.

they don't open til monday - hopefully they will be able to decrease the vat for a while. I want to get some more silver but at over £14 an ounce its pretty expensive now.

It depends on where they are in their 'VAT Year' they can only reduce at the start of their 'VAT Year' which may not be aligned with the calendar year.

I've been unable to buy silver from them as their VAT limit for Finland (where I live) had been exceeded. On looking at any silver product a red message said that no order for silver would be accepted for shipment to Finland. However, yesterday that message was gone and I could place an order for silver which I did and got the email invoice.

So I suppose their VAT year starts on 1st Jan.

Unless it's different for shipment to the UK, of course.

This has come up before (you might be able to find it using the search).

CID is UK based and therefore have been forced to VAT register in the UK.

There’s not going to be any VAT discounts for UK customers :(
