You've brought some old memories back of 'yoot' with that post. Used to play the original endlessly though preferred 'Numbers' ................

Another Kraftwerk original .............. from an intriguing album

(the poster has cut this short .......... grrrrrrr)

The above originals were all when I was still knee high to a grasshopper. Electronic music had moved on by the time my interest was aroused by acts like these..............

Collecting records like these and following the 'scene' was what made me very different as a teenager. There wasn't much to do at a weekend ...................... we had a choice of the muzzies (I knew all the reel sequences on 'line-up' and 'options' and generally knew when they were due to pay out), pick a fight with some other kids or go spend the part-time pay in the local rekkid shop. As soon as hip-hop hit the UK, and I like to think I got hooked earlier than most, it changed the whole game for me. Spare time was spent dancing infront of a mirror or with mates trying to perfect a trick so we could battle the 'Out of Town' lads. My poor old mum had tried (on reflection) so hard to save up to buy me a pair of Garrard decks and mixer and all my spare time was spent learning to 'scratch' or beat mix . I got hooked up with a couple of people who loved to paint too and every other night we went out and wrote our names as boldly as possible.

I'm 40 years old now and I STILL get the urge to go out and paint when something or someone p1sses me off. I tend to paint best at those times.

I loved this as a small boy, but now on reflection it feels even more powerful, an historical record, literally.

But I'm surprised there was no Bambaataa in your post, so I hope you don't mind me adding one........... but I'll not be opting for "plant rock" that would be just to predictable ;)

I have always wondered if a paralel could be drawn between economic 18 yr cycles and quality of music ?

Early/mid 70's - late 80's / early 90's - ????????

I always revisit the very early house music, simple but I loved the early house/electro stuff had an energy about it.

Agreed.

Last ones from me for this little "excursion" back into the 90's...... After seeing that Joey Beltram (R&S) just triggered a few in the back of the mind :)

Both take me back to a great Glastonbury in '89 and a great dance party in the middle of the commercial sector that went on all night :D

Classic 80's - especially the bit just after 1:00. I think I can get that 'WOO' noise a lot earlier though, so here's a Human League track for you (the only time they used it I think) as it comes in at just 19 seconds :P

Band of the holy joy, please guys. Don't know if you do requests.. But I'd love to hear the track that goes" the moon mustve sighed when it looked down ... Was there one track of sheer brillance.

Another thought would be a GEI album of all the great stuff put here by you guys. Where too is Riders On the Storm...

Got to admit m8, that's a new one on me, but you can definitely hear that early 90's sound.

Prodigy nut here

I have seen that so many times with the kids of today. A lot of them are listening to our generations music. As their only choice of music is whatever Simon Cowell churns out, then who can blame them?

My selection............
