Do you use electronics, by any chance?
Interesting question...
I do understand the importance of silver in our modern way of life.
We all use electronics, does anyone have a chart for the weight of silver per electronic product?
It would be useful to estimate the cost of living rise if Silver did go to the moon.
Product | Weight ==================== Laptop | ? Television | ? Phone | ? Electric Cooker | ? Transport | ? Internet | ?
An what about medical equipment and other devices that keeps our current standard of living and health?
I'm not disagreeing with the forecasts I have seen while watching Max Keiser and reading this forum, but
I would like to ask the question if wishing and acting for a higher price of silver only going to shoot ourselves in
the foot?
I don't think all of us can afford to buy enough silver to last the rest of our lives if the cost of life increases?
I'm not a fan of JPM, or Crimex and am only playing devils advocate by asking the following questions....
Have JPM short shenanigans (if true) actually done humanity a favour by encouraging the cheap proliferation of modern technology?
And would you risk the world going back to the stone age, just to profit on you silver holdings? Is speculating on silver
as immoral as speculating on food?

Could someone explain why information on bullion is now withheld under FOI exemptions?

UNPINNED
Goldfinger has unpinned this thread
/source: http://www.greenenergyinvestors.com/index....showtopic=12377
If people want it move to another section, so it is easier to find, please suggest on the above thread, where you would like it moved.
Or...
If you feel it MUST be pinned, please register that comment too
I was a bit panicked not to see this thread, it's one of the main reasons I visit GEI. Sure... sometimes there are periods of time
when its not posted on, but... it's all there. It's a great feature of GEI, the monthly pinned gold thread.
I'd like it left where it was, we all knew where it was and it was easier to find.

maybe its just the elastic being pulled down before snaping back up further!!!

Gold and silver blatant smackdown....
Nick
Looks like over kill.
Im trying to figure out why this smackdown made me laugh out loud!!!

Sterling price looked due a pullback. More volatile in pounds these days than in dollars. You should look at the crazy swings in Aussie and Kiwi. imo this reflects instability between currencies more than anything else.
Thank you for this info.

Oh boy... hope this is just summer doldrums.

This is one of those dips that I usually get worried, and not buy, then go on later to regret not buying.
Time to go out and buy?

Hello. I've been working on a national debt clock for my website... and decided to also count the national
debt in gold. Ounces were counting up to fast, so here it is in Kg.
http://www.creditcrunch.co.uk/
We are still under the weight of all the gold ever dug up, so... we should be fine eh?
Or does the clock confirm gold is going to rocket.

We are just only a few trading hours from breaking through EUR 1000.
-
Although I am happy to see these sharp rises in price.
I feel a little unsettled.
-
Well, this is exciting. Watching gold head up now past EUR 900 and heading up to GBP 800.
I'm glad I listened to this place and drip fed in. I'm a small guy, don't have much to my name but
have been able to buy an ounce every few months - gone without and had the appearance of a
big time scrooge.
Best I can hope for is half an ounce every few months now, or switch my attention to silver.
My (income - cost of living - other commitments) dictates I'm priced out of ounce gold purchases now - unless I can find a bank to borrow from .
-
We'll be through £800/t oz in a couple of weeks or possibly sooner.
I think by the end of this week we will be well above 800 GBP.
Edit: Based on a gut feeling.
-
About to shoot through EUR 900!!
-
Wow.
Just could not resist this... sorry.
By the way, thank you GEI for educating me.
-
Is this a trick question?
Gold's gone down in all currencies a little bit and USD has gone up a bit, so a slightly bigger move in gold when measured in USD.
No.
Just wondered why, not seen a steep dive like that in a while.

What just happened to gold.

Ouch Ouch Ouch

Let the gold price fall!
Get to buy even more!!
-
Does not want to get above £700 tonight.
-
Went to my usual bullion dealer.
Wanted to get another coin today...
SOLD OUT!!! unprecedented public demand, anyone and everyone is buying. Was told to try again next week or the
week after.
-
$1,190.30
I am as nervous as I am excited about gold. I can't believe how high the price has gone.

Dr Bubb,
You have an established site here, which means people do want to join and take part in your community.
You may be aware of the major spam problems my site has had, I have experimented with an advanced user registration process, to stop
bots and to deter further captcha smart bots I started experimenting with a paypal validation fee of 1 penny.
Since starting this, over the past week, I have had 7 new papal payments.
I think this is the future for online forums, considering the astroturfing and spam problems.
You must update your forum first though. And back up, back all this great information up.
