  1. yes but the main problem with fiat ones is that they give certain people ultimate power (for a time) - if they were not corrupt that wouldn't be a problem
  2. I need to speed up the transfer out of paper money.
  3. QUOTE (Steve Netwriter @ May 22 2008, 09:47 PM) I don't know why you post on here. You obviously hate gold and gold bugs, and are so biased against it that everything you see that supports purchasing gold is wrong, biased, written by a gold bug idiot, and everything else, written by central banks, etc is right and truthful. yep i dont think thats fair either - i dont think you hate gold either and so what if you did
  4. tis true some are a bit blinkered Gold always keeps it value (long term perhaps - medium term not always so) Houses only ever go up would rather be holding gold than paper at the moment though - but it is a sad state of affairs when gold is a good investment
  5. Time-relative value The value of $1 over time, in 1776 dollars.
  6. Could be a bit of both but youre a braver man than me if you do
  7. the link to James Turks quote Gold is near record lows in price versus crude. In fact, this price has only been seen 33 days in fifty years, consider buying it! Thank you, James Turk, for this gem. www.fmgr.com
  8. looks promissing - the link posted is wrong though Lower Oil Prices some more truths
  9. The Road to Perdition from a fundamental perspective I just cant see how Gold can not go much higher in future years given the amount of unfunded liabilities in most western economies.
  10. i started reading an article by Brian Bloom on financial sense - then i ended up reading more sites about the Mayan Calender and that it ceases in 2012, that the end of the world is near; and then thinking if the antichrist is already here could it be Gordon Broon and thats why he sold off our Gold. I'm off to bed Bear Market Notes ps for those who still have an interest in house prices some pretty dramatic falls noted today hpc auction thread
  11. why dont we ask this idiot I'll keep us on course does he really believe his own speal i found this article via a thread that Durch started on hpc - i dont read the sun honest
  12. bought some more gold and silver today to aid my future consumption
  13. Fisher model Assumptions of the model consumer's income is constant maximization of the utility anything above the line is out of explanation investments are generators of savings any property is indivisible and unchangeable According to this model there are three types of consumption: past, present and future. When making decision between present and future consumption, the consumer takes his previous consumption into account. This decision making is based on indifference map with negative slope because if he consumes something today it means that he can't consume it in the future and vice versa. In general households prefer present consumption to the future one. The most important reason why the consumer should prefer future consumption is the revenue the invested savings can bring. The revenue is in form of interest rate. Nominal interest rate - inflation = real interest rate Denote r: interest rate Y(t+1): income in time t+1 or a future income Y(t): income in time t or a present income Then maximum present consumption is: Y(t) + Y(t+1)/(1+r) The maximum future consumption is: (1+r)*Y(t) + Y(t+1) (VW)
  14. another article on the inflation/deflation debate if gold and silver act as cash in deflation then I guess it matters not which one wins in the end. http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/2008/0324.html
  15. some more thoughts on the gold drop http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article4079.html[/url]
  16. slightly related maybe we should be shorting BHP and not Lehman Commodities Sell Off
  17. 50 year low, guess they should start rising then my opinion on deflation/inflation is this (and has been for a few years) we are going to get inflation in things people need (energy, food) and deflation in things people dont need (second homes, investment property)
  18. IMO either the banking system fails or they are able to allow the banks to sort out their balance sheets via inflation Hat Trick Letter
  19. this will be the reason we get deflation then 18% increase in money supply
  20. Hmm stocks overvalued, gold going down, nowhere to hide - better buy US$ then
