Hi All,
found you at last...
Hi chris,
Good to see you here.
I see your popular poll about the popular gold thread got moved on hpc. Never mind I think you'll like it here.

Anybody tried this yet?
For an experiment have begun inviting my customers to pay me in gold or silver, no takers yet, no one has got any.

Ok, another quick question about CoinInvestDirect.com
It's Saturday today, if I place an order, when will it arrive?
There's only 4 working days between now and the Easter weekend, so would it be before or after the weekend?
And I got as far as the checkout page, where I input my delivery address, but was a bit scared clicking the button underneath to complete the order.
What happens after that? Is that the last screen? Have I completed my order at that stage?
I'd like to get it delivered to my work address... does it get delivered by a courier company?
Where's the option to add postal insurance? Or don't I need that if its being delivered by a courier?
Which courier company is used? What hours do they deliver between? Hopefully they don't turn up at a business address too early or too late in the day when no-one's there!
And when they invoice me, how do I pay that? Do they supply an account number for me to do a bank transfer (via online banking)? Or do I phone them with my debit card details? Their T&C says I've only got 3 days to pay them after receiving the invoice... is the invoice in the package with the coins, or mailed separately?
Or is it mailed first, and I have to pay first before they even dispatch my order????
So many questions... hopefully all the right answers forthcoming to put me at ease...
Can't see a reply so I'll give you my experience.
1)Ordered in Euros by mistake on the Tuesday
2)Eventually found thier invoice in my junk mail on the Friday
3)Rang them and said I wanted to pay but not in Euros.
4)I went to HSBC and deposited £ in their account 4.45pm (Just in time before the bank closed)
5)Notified them of payment by E-mail
6)They confirmed release on the Monday
7)UPS delivered 10.00am Wednesday
Hope that helps.

I'm not going to look at any other source when that moment arrives. I want to see it here first.
I would like to be here if, no, when it goes through, but i have to go, I 've got a 3 year that needs feeding.
I'll look at the rockets later.

Took delivery of my first and last batch of 1oz silver philharmonicas. Too shiny and no 'ting' when struck.
Not my ting, I'm going back to pre 47.

Taken from an article on bulliondesk.com
The potential off take of physical silver from the widespread use of RFID
technology is obviously highly dependent on the performance of the market and
the adoption of the technology. Our current projections are summarised below.
These volumes are by no means going to replace the decline in silver off take
from the photographic industry, but, unlike the photographic industry, RFID
technology does not lend itself to silver recycling. As most of these tags will
form part of packing and collection will prove difficult, it is unlikely that RFID
tags will be collectable on a scale large enough for commercially viable
recycling. Moreover, research suggests that RFID tags do not affect the paper
recycling process, which means there will be no need to strip off the tags prior to
recycling. Rather surprisingly though, some businesses are planning to buy used
RFID tags to re-programme and resell, potentially at a discounted rate. The

danger is that silvers current high price could also result in thrifting and
substitution in this end use of the metal. The development of conductive
polymers could replace silver but at the moment the cost of the polymers is far
greater than silver, at $200/gram, and commercial production is still a long way
off.
On balance it is likely that the costs of passive RFID tags will tumble over the
next five years as their use becomes more widespread and the manufacturers of
RFIDs compete for greater market share. RFIDs will become a prominent player
in the world of inventory and logistic control. The extent to which they grow
will depend on the benefits the technology brings to those who use it. Silver will
without doubt benefit and we have included this source of demand in our
projected supply/demand balance
That's a lot of unrecycled silver!

I think it will take more than rate hikes. It will probably require a completely new currency.
Backed by gold. Real money.

Pooof. There goes the money. That's what happens if you hold 'paper' in this environment.
Cgnao started a thread about this on wHoresPricksCrap this evening.
Does cgnao know we're here?

Silver has now had enough with the Shorterz and has left the Kitco chart.
We've got highs in Platinum, gold, copper etc.
Silver is yet to wake up.

I have only very few silver coins. Most of my silver is via GoldMoney. I didn't know old UK silver (scrap) coins were VAT free. Should really look into this.
I couldn't resist buying some of those 'fresh' philharmonicas this morning, £13.00 per troy ounce. I really must make more of an effort not to pay over spot.

I have been thinking about the old silver coins too, but I have only been buying eagles, Britannia's, maples bullion bars. Which old coins do you suggest are the ones to look out for?
I try to buy a mix of all the british denominations. I don't care if they are really worn provided they are recognisable. Some coins are rare and if in good condition fetch higher than spot price. I avoid these.
I am prepared to pay up to 5% over spot but often get it for less.
Gold, I buy sovs and Krugs.

What are peoples thoughts on pre 1947 50% Silver Bullion, shillings, sixpences, crowns etc
It really seems the cheapest way to buy silver bullion in the uk as you can always get it for spot or just under. There is also no chance of picking up some fake chinese bar of silver as its all easily recognisible english coinage. No VAT like britannias. eagles, maples etc.
Was wondering on what a refiner would give you for it. What are the costs to them to remove the 50% that isnt silver.
I've been buying pre 1920 silver coins for the higher silver content. I do not intend to refine it or sell it. I am preparing for when we go back on the gold standard and silver will be for everyday use. Gold will be far to valuable to walk down the road with.

Brown, probably the biggest fool/criminal in British history. Selling the nations wealth built up over hundreds of years for pennies, whilst leading his people a merry dance into massive debt. At the time I was ignorant of gold and it's significance. Now it just makes me angry that he was allowed to get away it.
Brown should hung, drawn and quartered.
Sorry, rant over.
