They've framed it to look like gold has fallen in price.
It is intresting that gold has not been mentioned in the main stream media recently.
Yesterday, I saw the gold spot price at £611/oz. That is a record sterling high. Yet no mention?
They did say that the pound had recovered slightly against the euro on the telly today. Just before it made another record low of 1.01950.
If it was not for the internet I would be a happy mushroom = kept in the dark and fed sh1t

I'll use a combination of your suggestions (although not the £20 on fire one, GOM (at least not literally)!)
I took a £10 note my brother had left on the kitchen table and started tearing it in half. My brother soon stopped me. He now believes me, but he has a great way of protecting his money from inflation - he squanders it all on drink and women.

A commentator on Sky News said tonight, 'Everyone is selling stocks and buying gold'.
Spot = £543

Trade of the century...
"US Government to secure mortgage market with gold reserves."
NOT!!!
I'm asking the same question as everyone else, "What gold reserves?"
Then I want to know, "What weapons of mass destruction?"

Quick question for Goldmoney users. I am going through the CAP documentation and I need certification of my passport photocopy from an authorised body. What type of free officer did you use, do you know whether a bank clerk is enough?
I just went to the bank. Though read through the form, so you can tell the clerk what is required.

VietNamNet Bridge – After a long period of quoting land prices in VND, landlords are now setting prices in gold instead of VND in order to avoid risks from the VND’s devaluation.
To quote a fat TV presenter. 'But this is Britian!' As if we won't be affected by the global crisis

After watching the RTE news, I have a new gold strategy. I'm going to a local Irish river for a walk.
-
Not sure if this is of any interest.
RTE News, Ireland - Massive gold mine found in Monaghan - click here.
What may be significant is that it was the headline story on the RTE 6 o'clock news. So alot more people aware of gold.

Not true
Ok.
Sorry.

Cgnao...
... I read most of your posts. You never mention silver?
Surely silver is also a good investment, in times like this?

I fear I am right.
I agree.
I fear you are right too

Didn't know you liked the shiny stuff BB.
It is good to have some insurance. Just incase the worst does happen to the economy. And lets face it, our economy is in a similar position to this bus ...
... have you seen the Italian Job?

I think I'm ready for gold, the silver I'm not so sure about.
I,ve looked at bullionvault but not goldmoney, is there any difference?
Bullion Vault deal only in gold and their costs are lower. It is possible to trade on their website as the spreads are quite low - if you feel lucky. They are also easier to open an account with, in my experience.
Though, I also have a Goldmoney account for silver.
I use Chards for coins. Others also use Bairds, ATSbullion and coininvestdirect.
I'm fairly new to all this. But am happy to know, that a real tangible asset belongs to me. Though the drops can be a wee bit scary.
Good luck,
BB

So this is where all the most interesting posters from HPC are now hanging out. Glad there is somewhere I can still read your views.
Really can't believe what happened on the HPC forum. Big Brother is watching you
I have some money in Bullion Vault, Goldmoney and physical. So I will be a avid reader. Thanks to everyone here.
Most of the stuff you talk about is beyond me. But I enjoy lurking.
Thanks all... you have already made me good returns.

Gold Price Crash
Enjoy yourself over there. I'll be along in a little while. I still want to see gold go up on a power with the way house prices did. Then will be the time to get out.
