Sorry Underling, not sure which instrument you mean. Love how that guy plays the bottle though, great video!

And a nice Tom Waits cover....

Guy centre-right goes by the name 20syl, from the hip-hop group Hocus Pocus. He's one of these ridiculously talented multi-instrumentalists, plus rapper!
Here's a video of him making a beat from scratch, using the MPC plus keyboards, guitar & vinyl - fascinating to watch from a slightly nerdy point of view!

Loving the reggae X-mas tunes.
But I've recently been feeling the need for some fire.....(not the chestnut-roasting variety)

Well, 2 weeks ago I hadn't heard of these guys, now I own four of their albums!
Fantastic bluesy rock....amazing what drums, guitar and vocal can sound like.

it is without shame a total dump and I can say spending some time there......
You're a half-full type of guy aren't you?!

I wonder if any of you trip-hop headz have come across Gavin Clark through his work with UNKLE?
He was with a band called Sunhouse who released an amazing album called Crazy on the Weekend in 1998. It's been described as the best album you've never heard!
It's true that nobody I've ever mentioned it to had heard of it. I advise everyone to try and get hold of it, well worth repeated plays.
He's also released some good tunes as Clayhill, and some solo stuff (his tracks are often used on Shane Meadows' films)

I found this article interesting and would like to read the opinions of others. It appears to me that Gold and Silver are in an artificial holding pattern pending an event of some magnitude.

That's interesting, and I agree that there is often symbolism in bank notes, but this is usually arcane Masonic stuff, no? Why would the US government put simplistic 'clues' on their new notes about returning to the gold standard? Perhaps it's more about taking the p!ss and thumbing their nose at those who want to see an end to fiat/return to gold? As in, "look, we can just print newer, shinier, more hi-tech money!"

Not heard that before, didn't really follow the olympics but that is good.
This is the track the BBC used most often I think (just the first 20 seconds, and a few other samples).

The whole instrumental album is great, but the full version has cheesy vocals!
Edit to say thanks for the recommendations Underling, am looking into then now

...which other Tru Thoughts artists do you recommend then?
Just realised Nostalgia 77 is part of their stable too. Gotta love remixed remixes, great reggae backbeat on this one:
-
Another couple of artists on a similar style ............
Used to love most of Tru-Thoughts output but have noticed a decline since Will Holland went on his own travels .......... good label to follow mind.
Really like that Caribou track, will check them out....
I like QSO, which other Tru Thoughts artists do you recommend then?

Last one from me.
Thanks, I enjoyed all of those Warpig. That Inga Liljestrom one reminded me a bit of Beth Gibbons....
And the Air track, I always get them mixed up in my head with Aim

And another Jazzy trip-hop number from the memory banks:

Great funky track from Australian beatmakers Hermitude:

And you might recognise Shanghai Restoration Project from BBC's coverage of the last Olympics. The whole instrumental album is like nothing else I've heard!:

These latest posts have reminded me that I really haven't kept up with DJ shadow's output - some great stuff. Remind me of a few electronica favourites:
Any love for Bonobo here? He's got some great tracks:

Beautiful track from Four Tet's great album 'Rounds':

When the world is looking a bit bleak, I always find myself returning to my reggae collection and firing up some righteous indignation against the Babylon Sh!tstem
But also for those sweet, soothing, uplifting tunes (yes, sometimes cheesey).
So turn off your cheese filter and let Freddie McGregor put a smile on your face:

And how about some Maxi Priest on the Tears Riddim:
-
SR did, Shadow played it in his Shadowsphere gig. Lovely track ........
Picked the album up Tuesday and imho, it's a bit of a dud. That particular track unexpectedly doesn't infact break!!!! Big disappointment really but I suppose he may farm it out for remixing. My advice is to sample the LP on spotify and try and pick up any remix EPs of the tracks that suit your taste.
* cries a little *
Thanks for the link, not at all the kind of thing I associate with DJ Shadow (MoWax days etc), but very beautiful. Shame to hear that the album is a bit of a dud though!
And always great to hear Curtis Mayfield and Hendrix - Hey Joe is one of my favourites.
I also love it when Jimi plays the Blues...

Some lovely (classical?) stuff you've posted LC1, not something I've listened to a great deal but all the same ..................
* applauds *
Complete guess judging by the names of the composers/performers but are these all European ?
You're probably familiar with this composer ............
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdR6Z52FG8Q
Thanks for these, they are very nice! I hadn't heard of that composer, but will look him up now.
I've recently started getting into more classical stuff, some of the famous dead composers but also a lot of contemporary 'modern classical' as I think of it (not sure if this is a recognised genre!?).
Deaf Center are a Norwegian duo, Johann Johannsson is an Icelandic composer, Max Richter a German-born Brit, and Yasushi Yoshida I assume is Japanese!
Johannsson and Richter are prolific composers and all their albums I've heard are beautiful.

I found the charts in this link quite interesting, maybe because they're presented in a way that is just about simplistic enough for me to grasp!
