dgul Posted October 2, 2011 Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 Interesting to see Qatar Holding investing a serious amount of money into European Goldfields - the total investment (£1/2B) is around 1/2 of the market cap. here It reminds me of the 2008 rescue of Barclays by Qatar Holding - they bought around 15% of the bank, and sold much of it 12 months later for around double the price*. But where is the similarity - are they investing in "poor old battered" Greece... Or are they investing in the "massively underpriced" gold miner market? *IIRC, Barclays proceeded to plummet immediately after the purchase, and only recovered back to the purchase price in early 2009...
