  1. It's lengthy but well written and explains nearly everything you need to know. Oxford Economics's - "The impact of inflation and deflation on the case for gold"
  2. I hope he's on to something, I feel like I have a London Good Delivery Bar on the way...
  3. It seems wildly optimistic from a realistic perspective too.
  4. You're being wildly optimistic if you think this crisis can last another 10 years before imploding.
  5. Understood, but personally I think it's too late to spend our way out of this one. Let's hope we can rejuvenate the spirit of the Blitz without it coming to war. Any hardship will bring local communities closer together, which I think is good thing.
  6. Point taken. If I lived in a city now I would probably relocate to the country. It will be felt country wide when it goes off, but I can imagine inner city life to be too bleak to brunt.
  7. Why draw that distinction? Everything is the summary of it's parts...
  8. You're forgetting the effect those zeros have on people's lives. Yes collectively the Western world will muddle through, but that isn't the point, it's the suffering people have to endure to muddle through that's the problem. Have you ever been unemployed when you don't know whether to spend your last tenner on food to fill your stomach or buy yourself a few pints to cheer yourself up? Life can be bleak even during economic prosperity and not talking about something doesn't make it go away. You're right to be positive about the future, but that shouldn't be at the expense of appreciating the gravity of the present situation. The reason you think this crisis isn't a real problem, is because for most it hasn't happened yet.
  9. That's why you lot are all made from girders... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt_rU-Sh15g
  10. I'm not sure I want one unless it comes with an automatic shotgun. I was put off by the off license I went to in the city centre, where the inside was completely covered in Plexiglas to stop you touching anything. It just had a small teller window so you could receive your booze and pay. Needless to say it didn't set the right image and I haven't been back since...
  11. A candle lit dinner of dehydrated, but nicely cooked gazelle doesn't sound too bad... At least there won't be many mozzies around
  12. I'm only describing English weather, I've only been up to Scotland a few times. Is it that bad..? I went to Glasgow once and it was sunny whilst I was there.
  13. I couldn't agree more. Also at least we are the top of the food chain in this country, which I couldn't say for OZ.
  14. I disagree with this as well (I'm on a roll... ) I moved back from Melbourne to England because we missed England. What I did realised is the weather isn't anywhere near as bad as people claim it is. The problem is British people want a raging hot summer every summer and when the MET Office promise us one and we don't get it, everyone in the UK whinges, blame the MET Office for setting false expectations... I'd also say whilst Melbourne is renowned for having four seasons in one day, the Oz weather is boring. It's blisteringly hot all the time, it's dull... I like dramatic seasonal weather, it's nice, the landscape changes and it keeps it interesting. Christmas in Australia is horrible, it just doesn't feel like Christmas. I had a private white sands beach at the bottom of my garden and in the end I never used to go down to it, you take it for granted and you always want what you haven't got... One thing I will say for a hot climate, is New Years Eve is awesome at the peak of summer, I'll miss that... When I got back, I kept a close watch on the weather to see if it was as bad as I remembered and do you know what, we have the best cross section of weather anywhere in the world I've ever been to. Extreme weather in any capacity has it's draw backs. I'm glad we came home.
  15. I completely disagree. There are dumps in every country, where were you in the UK and where is home? When the sun is shining and you look out over the rolling British countryside, there's nowhere else I'd rather be. We have one of the highest standards of living in the world here.
  16. You crazy fool! Nothing would surprise me right now, you might get your wish...
  17. I think the price of gold is being managed continually at the moment, the price action looks very unnatural to me.
  18. I'll be back to my deep beats in a bit. In the meantime... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7Xc0L1_rAQ A tribute to my mod days and when I used to wear a pair of those penguin shoes. I was only 12! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ipGhzrIi3s
  19. I'll dig in to Mr Chop's sordid past when I get a chance!
  20. No worries.... Yes it is very BG, I thought exactly the same. That Aim album is quality, I've posted a couple of tracks from it before on this thread.
  21. Last one from me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH5bL_XbO64
