  1. me too - i thought i was done buying silver but the opportunity to buy brits at a (sort of) reasonable price is a bit tempting.
  2. ahh, aus dollars, thats where i'm confused - but the postage and any customs charges will still make them expensive.
  3. same here, i know nobody who has bought any gold/silver - a few people are jealous of the 'profits' i've made over the last year or so but see it as too expensive, they still don't get it.
  4. i have. and to the other guy - Description: King George V last circulating type gold sovereign, minted 1911-1925 Quality: Exemplary - similar to that shown Weight: 8 grams Size: 22mm diameter Metal alloy: Gold, 22 carats pure (.9167) Obverse (portrait) designer: Bertram Mackennal Reverse (St.George) designer: Benedetto Pistrucci" - thats what a real sovereign is!
  5. it does sound too good to be true, so i've just applied!
  6. not a chance in hell of either happening - trying to predict price movements using TA and previous ups and downs with no emphasis on the reasons for these ups and downs is stupid, no better than astrology. Why people use this technique is beyond me - its unscientific and nonsense.
  7. you must have been buying proof ones then cos in 2005 you should have been paying less than half that. In fact you can get sovs for less than £150 today from CID. I can't believe i got some a year and a half ago for £86!
  8. ahh, i think you're right, i just checked the weight of a sovereign and its only 7.31g and not the 7.98g they actually weigh.
  9. does this take into account the gold content? most of those are only 90%
  10. thats quite a mark up on the Britannia's. even the krugs have a hefty premium from cid - i think i would buy phils from them if i was going to buy atm.
  11. really?? i have a few of those. thats good news but i'm not sure i believe it.
  12. the background of the koala looks smooth - is that right? the 1ozers have a faceted background. i have the kook and the lunar and the kook is definitely the best.
  13. i got one as well - the kooks etc are slightly smaller diameter and slightly thicker than the libertads. The 1kg coins are really impressive though - i'm sure they will be the last bit of silver to go when i eventually sell.
  14. silver is one of the items that carries extra duty if it comes from the US - something to do with a trade disagreement we had a while ago. I think its mentioned on the chard website and i have personally been stung by it.
  15. well, they will charge you vat first (15%). Then they will charge you for importing silver from the US. Then they will charge you the handling fee (usually £8). the best way is to find someone off ebay who will describe the silver as something else and put a lower value on it.
  16. it is looking a bit cheaper - i'll be buying more soon
  17. they don't open til monday - hopefully they will be able to decrease the vat for a while. I want to get some more silver but at over £14 an ounce its pretty expensive now.
  18. out of sovereigns! - that is unusual, they usually have many thousands.
  19. what does that chert mean? does it mean that when the silver delivered over takes the silver remaining then we have a default?
  20. well, i started buying at $640 ish and bought all the way up to $880 and yet on average i am still at least 20% up in pounds - so gold is doing exactly what i want it to do.
  21. if you have the email invoice, then you have the invoice?!?! the payment instructions come in the email with the invoice - read them carefully the first time (you have to quote the invoice number in your hsbc payment, something i forgot to do first time).
