  1. I want some cheaper gold tomorrow. No rocket, but this is how it begins...
  2. According to their Metals Monitor, platinum is at zero. Get in quick before G0ldfinger buys everything!
  3. We're back up now. They do have a phone number. Is the current action to do with Citi being the next Woolworths?
  4. Is bullionvault.com down? I can't get on to see how rich I am :-(
  5. Still looks cheap to me. Adding in VAT, the exchange rate and per-coin shipping 13.03*1.175/1.4741+(250/300) £11.219501 Edit: you won't get that exchange rate though. Add 2.5%?
  6. "While some funds have halted redemptions, the expectation is that when the bans are lifted, the selling will resume," he wrote in a note. I took it to mean the ban on redemptions from hedge funds. If not then there is no point in the author mentioning the halting of redemptions in that sentence. That's not how I read it.
  7. Just the one? Can't fit any more in the truck? First google hit for "silver vat rate" is GEI! It's something to do with quotas, German tax rates and possibly a typo I think http://www.greenenergyinvestors.com/index....3520&st=340 and another one http://www.greenenergyinvestors.com/index....amp;#entry45094
  8. Not steep enough for you? Working for me.
  9. Firefox tells me Does someone not want us to know?
  10. From the comments section: I was relieved that someone actually posted Article 1 Section 10 of the constitution but there are people commenting who have a vote on the future of the world next week and, for example, think that these guys should be shot next time they try it. Our future is decided by people who are stupid and proud of it. Oh to have enough gold to "lug"!
  11. Let's lock in the current stock levels and see what "lots" is... London: 2,179.461 New York: 188.210 Zurich: 7,383.574 and how will the liquidity affect the price? Comparison with Goldmoney... Goldmoney: £497.30/oz BV New York: 508.54 525.65 BV London: 508.57 517.22 BV Zurich: 508.54 519.43
  12. Saw that earlier in the day too, then the buy price came back shortly after. Nothing selling in NY for £ at the moment but $970.43 gets you an ounce. Ouch!
  13. I didn't STR. Partly because the place was never in a good enough state to sell (procrastination again), partly because if everything really does go pear-shaped I'd rather have something to call my own (and it is 100%) than rent.
  14. Eagles, Buffalo, Krugers all gone. 1/10 Britannias in though (if you want to buy at £700/oz).
  15. I've had an almost overwhelming sense of dread all week, based largely on the thought that I'm not prepared enough. Procrastination is my middle name...I didn't sell out of my AIG-backed gold & silver until TODAY. What bad timing eh! But at least I'm free of the counterparty risk. Seeing an investment go up is great, but not when it means everything you know is coming to an end.
  16. It might be quite a lot different. They were on the road to Damascus just yesterday... Ok, maybe not that different... http://www.fool.co.uk/news/investing/2008/...t-this-bad.aspx
  17. Spread in NY is £2.73 or $165 Spread in Zurich is $1.15 or £17.01 Why the different spread in different currencies?
  18. Isn't the selling based on the likelihood that the bailout will go through? It only needs 12 people to change their minds. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics/A...ory/711199.html
  19. Gold hitting the big time again! Going for Gold to make TV return http://ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5hc...knBsBH8xti80Rbg
  20. At some point today Coin Invest Direct removed the pre-2008 Krugerrand from their listing. Sold out? Disclosure: 27% down on Black Rock Gold & General. I'm far too busy with the day job to hold any gold shares individually.
  21. You called the top with that Moonshot post ;-) Bailout or no bailout, there's still more money available. http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2008/09/29/f...l-system/print/ "When we conquer our fear of this debt monster, the ship will begin to head on the right course. When that occurs, I can't predict." If you want us not to fear it, at least call it a Debt Kitten :-)
  22. Gold at new all time high in GBP. Silver not.
  23. A lot can happen in 2 hours! Panda 2008 1 oz GOLD 31.10 Gramm £510.97 £563.78 £563.78
  24. Same for me. Sometimes the commemorative coins go for less of a premuim and whilst I consider only the bullion value I might be lucky enough to find someone who will buy the numismatic value when I come to sell. The fact that the premium is lower for some of these coins suggests their numismatic value is currently negative. It's a market I don't properly understand, I'm hoping the lower premium is simply because everyone tends towards Maples, Eagles etc (whilst they're still available ) but I'm not risking much capital in it.
