  1. 1kg Libertad approximate dimensions: Depth: 1.2cm Diameter: 10.8cm Weight: ummmm...
  2. That was me. I'm not sure of the dimensions but I'll measure it tonight if I can remember to. I tried posting it again but I can't work out how to reference an existing attachement and the forum software tells me that dynamic pages in the IMG tags are not allowed. Here's the link though... http://www.greenenergyinvestors.com/index....post&id=789 CID were charging 7% VAT at the time I bought it.
  3. Everyone else is on the January thread ;-)
  4. Happy Christmas from the FT! http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/9e9da2fa-cdba-11...?nclick_check=1 Some thoughts on gold from the readers of fool.co.uk: http://www.fool.co.uk/news/your-money/savi...ings-rates.aspx o Ah, but how do you know there is real gold [at bullionvault], all reserved and marked as yours, and not a big, fat FRAUD? o Please go back to the beginning of this reply and read it again. No bullionvault, OK? Nor anything like it! Bullionvault, indeed! o Oh, and rest assured I don't fancy bullion! The wall of worry hasn't even been built yet!
  5. I'm sorry to hear about your redundancy. Enjoy the cider (I'm a Somerset lad myself) but don't curl up for too long - you might find that you're well placed to take advantage of the new opportunities which our changing economy will undoubtedly create. Until then, there's a wide world to embrace. In the current economic climate a redundancy now could be as much a head start as it is a setback.
  6. Part common sense, part unsubstantiated speculation. You need someone to tell you this?
  7. Reminds me of something from a while back... http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...mp;#entry981140 whoami The dollar funds give you a little extra bonus from the long-term drift down of the pound against the dollar too (like a mild Forex play). http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...mp;#entry982135 PiXeL8r (surely not!) ...the general feeling is that the dollar is weakening and the pound will weaken more. If that happens you get a double gain, hence the comments. It's a forex play as well as a gold play. The forex play is sterling against gold, regardless of what you trade through on the way in or out. If gold is dollar speculation and they scrap the dollar, leaving you with just lots of gold, you're screwed!
  8. There's nearly always a better performing investment you could have made. Cocoa for instance, or ultrashort oil! But for quality of sleep there's nothing to match gold this year, which is what it's all about for me.
  9. Did someone here predict gold would be kept below EUR600? Looking good at the moment.
  10. £9,600 exemption this year, tax at 18%.
  11. You're investing in Silver and you're concerned by the 1% swings? Man, you should have been there when it was at $20!!!
  12. Nor am I, but last time they came together they were below the actual price. Would that suggest anything different?
  13. That precipitous slide thing sounds pretty bad but if your source thinks we're on the verge then, considering what's gone on recently, I assume they must be understating. How do they describe what's happened in the last few months if it's not already a precipitous slide?
  14. I just checked CID to see the lovely 15% VAT on their silver. Oops - the 1kg Libertad dodgy VAT rate has been noticed (was 7%, now 15%).
  15. Boring day today for POG. Forget the rockets, it needs one of these.
  16. It did! Wasn't Ker predicting $6.60?
  17. Do it Steve! Someone needs to bring this baby down so I can load up some more.
  18. http://www.hattongardenmetals.com/coin.aspx Krugerrand: buy £486.19 sell £546.95 I've not used them (not bought coins for a while) but they always seem to be the cheapest.
  19. I'm on virgin media too. BV is working for me.
  20. Gold/Silver ratio since 1344 http://goldinfo.net/silver600.html I've been wondering why people say the long term ratio is 1:15 and that it will go back there one day. This chart shows that the 1:15 ratio held true for centuries, while gold and silver were coined as money and had a proscribed exchange rate, but not for the last 200 years. Ker, do you see a low of more than 1:30 based on that chart?
  21. It does look rather like a hedge fund, but it also has a $72billion current account surplus (as of 2007).
  22. On Max Keiser's webcast they were suggesting that the stockmarket and gold rallies on Friday were because of this: http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/b...uarantees_N.htm The announcement's timing coincided with the announcement of Obama's treasury secretary. Edit: That didn't sound so big the first time I read it. I prefer to see the zeros $1,400,000,000,000.
