Sometimes I think "Stuff it, I'll sell my gold and take profits". Then I read articles like this...
-
So could this have been anything to do with the recent correction?
Looks like it might have been a buying opportunity after all.

There is something of the 1970s about this "opportunity".
I could imagine one of these degenerating into hell on earth. At least with Big Brother, you can vote people out.

I feel slightly sick in my stomach and I'm 40% in gold. There's a distinct feeling that this is getting out of hand. Looking around my office right now, everyone's happily getting on with their job. Maybe they're on to something?
More likely they are completely ignorant. Try a few questions such as "What would you do if sterling collapsed because of a gilt strike?" and see if they understand what you are saying.

If it feels scary to be in on this ride, I wonder how scary it's going to feel soon for people who aren't crewing the rockets?
And that's being 60% in gold.

I gave a presentation on precious metals investing at a meeting of an investors' club last night. I was surprised at how interested people were in options for investing in gold. Although these were sophisticated investors compared to Mr. Average, there was considerable consensus about the prospects for gold.
Start of the Public awareness phase?

I know I've seen it a hundred times on here, but has anyone got a link to the asset bubble graph, you know, the one with euphoria, return to normal, despair on it?

I hope that someone's watching out for when RB goes bullish. Time to sell then, methinks...
-
I get a bit worried when my gold is appreciating faster than I can earn money.

Erm - are we still discussing gold? Where are the rocket pictures? Or do we all know that this current rally is because the pound is toast?

So Gold has shot back up again in the last few days (although not quite to the same sterling highs) and there's hardly any discussion of recent movements on here. Are we getting a bit blase?

Why did gold stay at exactly the same price between 18:00 and 22:00 GMT yesterday? I noticed this first on BV but it did it on Kitco as well. It usually goes up and down every few minutes or so.

What do people think, gold through $1200 today?
I wouldn't like to bet against that.
-
It's different this time.
The cheque's in the post
Of course I love you
My best friend's a Gunner, actually...

I think gold will remain that currency for quite some time... all this talk about an "exit" mystifies me.... as if gold could get in a bubble.
It did in January 1980.
-
way too soon imo
I think you' ll find most of us will be hanging on to our gold for a lot longer
are you strapped in and ready for the ride or do you want to get off ?
I'm definitely expecting to pass out with the g-forces. But I'm planning to dock with the satellite and stay in orbit, not return to Earth...

Another record high in Sterling and no-one got anything to say?
How about discussing an exit strategy and the next asset class to purchase with gains from gold?
Or will gold reach a permanently high plateau?...
My take is that we are now well into the press interest stage of the launch and that public interest stage is just about to ignite. Cue more rocket pics.

Agreed, I need to get more moved out of GBP.
I let Mrs. MH do that. The more she does the house up, the greater our PM percentage.
In fact, this month, she's not managed to spend as much as our PMs have gone up by.

New high in GBP £691.56/t oz!!!
It's only a new high when the BV sell price is higher than the previous record buy price!

Although it's undoubtedly from a rival trying to diss a competitor's business model, this FT article is interesting about the CDO-like qualities of GLD.
