  1. Hot investment news from Money Saving Expert. Perhaps a little lacking in the macro picture dept!: Post 35 http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3384178&page=2
  2. I don't know what he is complaining about. There has already been a huge dip this morning in GBP & Euro.
  3. I'm going to be shot for this: Some/most of your reaction is caused by being locked-in to the UK 'rats-in-the-maze' aura, (matrix?). Buried by relentless bills; an unhealthy degree of imposed 'we'-think; living too close to one another; & possibly, a one-time-around mentality. Trying to make the right choices in such an environment is not easy.
  4. Wires crossed. I was only responding to 'prices' ....................................... I might wear purple, but that is not my style! Don't I get any brownie points? Sorry to disappoint but the host is one of my favourite people, & as he is awaiting the 'Olympic effect' to finally find him a buyer for his gated box in Stratford so he can retire early , I found a non-Brit to converse with to save his feelings.
  5. The only ones I know of are on internet forums & they seem to be of a very different mentality Are they 'investors'? I thought they just didn't rate having their savings in fiat.
  6. Because the majority of one's savings are in it? Thus every major purchase is like timing the purchase of your foreign holiday money for the best rate. Why would that happen given the present situation? How many dispassionate property investors do you know who hold gold & are buying? I know quite a few UK-based property investors (who doesn't these days?), none of whom AFAIK have gold, & I wouldn't describe any of them as dispassionate. On the contrary, they seem keener than ever to get me to join in with their 'fail-safe' strategy as my other-world approach just has to be wrong. I had lunch with a group on Saturday & three of the species were there so their attitude (& body language) is still fresh in my mind. ................................. The only way I could force myself to take the alien step to buy PMs was by switching the big question from: "What if I do?" to "What if I don't?"
  7. Dammit! Either he's worked out how to take it with him, or he has fine-tuned his ascension technique so he can reliably come & go as he pleases.
  8. The Merryn Somerset-Webb Appreciation Society sub-forum - (because I can understand her!) When will it be time to sell your gold? http://www.moneyweek.com/blog/when-will-it-be-time-to-sell-your-gold-13101?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Money%2BMorning
  9. It has to be someone special. A man without whose generosity of spirit none of this would have been possible. A man who once said ............ ........... Bubb, best put everyone on PPM around '997? Just in case some innocent posts without appreciating the gravity of the moment
  10. Without clicking the link, do we get bonus points for guessing his initials are 'BB'? (Not Bruce Banner!)
  11. Ahem, I solved this one years ago! As I'm now banned I will reveal the secret. All you do is add: "& its/their effect on house prices" to your title. This method works because the reactive ones amongst the mods take everything literally. Tongue-in-cheek subtle shades of grey are beyond their comprehension. You only have to look at Banner's garbage on the first page of the pinned gold thread for confirmation of this
  12. Did you see Dom's latest on just this subject? http://www.moneyweek.com/investments/precious-metals-and-gems/gold/how-much-higher-could-gold-go-13001
  13. Relax Pix, Bruce Banner will nick it & claim his financial credentials had previously been kept under wraps because he had to be impartial.
  14. What a shame that at the same time as pinning the thread someone didn't pin that disgrace to moderation, the ranting Banner creature to a tree, terminally! Hi Bart
  15. Another article mentioning the unthinkable! http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/mary-dejevsky/mary-dejevsky-the-property-ladder-that-threatens-to-become-a-snake-2313834.html#disqus_thread However most of the rest reminds me of the outpourings of MSE member 'julieq'.
  16. Interesting gold std/banking thread at ykw. Contains this from 'Traktion' http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=166616 Me? Anything beyond banking being a publicly owned utility would always be suspect. Note the triple six in the link
  17. I unexpectedly just had one of those: 'I don't like what was said so I will ask elsewhere', moments.
  18. Thus we are not to believe the tales of BTL 'professionals'* out on their saintly lender-encouraged spending sprees outbidding FTBs, purely in an effort to put a roof over the heads of the less fortunate? *No-one it seems has a suitable nausea bag - not even THIS GUY. This gap in the market needs to be filled.
  19. Oh - No - I - Haven't! I went early in order to avoid that event chris, & with success Luckily in my sunny (non-volcanic) mountain retreat I cannot detect the distant smell of fear, but I'm sure it exists
  20. I'm going early: The mighty Euro 1099.88
  21. (with apologies for meaning-mangling) Whereas intelligent(oft-times world-weary) resources self-allocate to the wilderness. To avoid excessive use of the hyphen, is my excuse. What was yours RH? - Oh yes, panning for gold. You win!
  22. Refreshing clarity & simplicity from Eric Sprott: ZH's preamble contains the perfect typo: Eric sees the current "extend and pretend" intervention by world governments and central banks to prop of a fundamentally flawed baking system, particularly the vast money printing efforts of the past few years, as a ruse that is losing it's influence. ZH link also has a transcript of CM with ES http://www.zerohedge.com/article/eric-sprott-paper-markets-are-joke-prepare-bullion-prices-go-supernova Full interview http://www.chrismartenson.com/page/transcript-eric-sprott-paper-markets-are-joke-prepare-bullion-prices-go-supernova
