Despite many articles which treat gold solely as a commodity (and the article above focuses more on getting out of gold rather than in), I think we can definitely say that the public awareness phase has begun. Does anyone have an insight into the '70s/'80s bull market to determine where we are? I was still potty training back then.

According to this, which is basically a prediction from 2004 (or 2006, when the accompanying article was written), we're at the end of 1978, which coincides with the start of the mania phase. Spooky!

Exactly. Golds value is comparitive to many things - mainly we think of the value in or local currencies - but gold can be valued against oil, houses, tailor made suits, cows, sheep, loaves of bread etc.

Yep, seeing GF's charts of houses priced in gold and then a long term of the Dow or oil priced in gold really opened my eyes.

In the context of the price of gold when it peaks in terms of housing, why not?

The chart on the HPC homepage shows that the last 2 troughs each fell below their preceding 2 peaks. If that happens again we'll go below £130k in real terms.

I gather you two have a background in conspiracy websites where often one or more Gurus announces far-out "facts" about how the world works and the sheeple uncritically drink up the koolaid. Perhaps you have decided to become gurus yourselves now, but I wish you could go about it in a more adult manner than that. You and CDSwamp have some interesting contributions to make, and there is even a forum specifically for them where your guruhood would no doubt be conferred if you qualify. You'll certainly have to be able to survive a level of criticism on this site, but testing your opinions makes them stronger.

Attempting rational discussion about far out theories with people who have no basis for their beliefs is like talking to a drunk man. You don't know what they're going to say next but you know it won't make any sense and you feel they could lash out at any time. After a while it's best just to leave them alone whilst they piss down their leg, but it can ruin an evening all the same.

The story was LEAKED to him by either the CIA or MI6. These SECRET high level meetings are not leaked willy nilly to any old journalist, they wanted a 'safe pair of hands' to deliver the right story with the right tone at the right time and place.

What confuses me now is that you first claimed that Fisk's story should not be taken seriously on the grounds that he's an intelligence asset but you have subsequently claimed to know both that the story is true and who gave it to him. So the only thing to be skeptical about is the timing and the tone?

I see you passed up enrieb's invitation to dazzle us with your secret knowledge in a dedicated forum, but if you do grow some balls and find some evidence I'd be happy to participate. Questioning aspects of a popular gold-related story is relevant to gold investment.

Unsupported attacks on columnists is not helpful here but there is a place for evidence-based discussion elsewhere.

I agreee with cdswamp about this. Obviously even ill-informed controlled media consumers know that something is afoot. That article confirms some of their ideas BUT kicks it out to 2018 - no need to worry for the moment then.

2018 is the completion date, when it's too late to worry. The start date is in the past. There have already been deals between China and other Asian or S. American countries to trade in Yuan.

In 2003 he revealed the place of manufacture of a missile which exploded in a Baghdad market to be somewhere in Texas (IIRC). He was shown a piece of shrapnel with a traceable serial number whereas the US and British authorities claimed it was an Iraqi anti-aircraft missile. I know it's only circumstantial but that doesn't sound like a plant to me. Anyway, why do you suppose the story about moving away from the dollar is false? Haven't there been enough indications to be reasonably sure of the accuracy of at least some of the story?
