dubayyy
Hi. This is my first post on this excellent forum. I have been lurking here for the last few weeks and grateful for all the excellent advice posted by Dr. Bubb, Frizzers (big fan of yours in Moneyweek btw) et al. I have been investing in property for the last few years and have now liquidated some gains. I have been taking some small positions in Gold and Silver ETFs over the last few weeks and made some good returns (around 18% on average over 12 weeks). Also having read this and other forums I have taken minor stakes in Sylvania Resources (SLV.L) and GDX:AMEX (HUI 'tracker'). Although I am relatively new to precious metals I feel I have read enough to understand there is going to be an ongoing bull in metals and commodities. Over the next few months I am looking to speculate and invest with around £50k in this sector. Given where the market is just now what would constitute a good balance of holdings in the following sectors?: 1. ETFs (Gold/Silver/Platinum/Palladium) 2. Mining Majors 3. Junior Miners Although I am very comfortable with ETFs and fairly comfortable with the Majors, it would be interesting to get some resources for researching junior miners. Also where is the best (online) place to trade Canadian and Australian juniors? i currently have online accounts with Barclays Stockbrokers and Selftrade and these will not for example trade Beartooth Platinum (BTP.T) as it does not clear through CREST. I have a fairly high appetite for risk and am seeking maximum capital growth over a 3 year term. Any advice gratefully accepted. d

Here is a due diligence checklist that you may find helpful for research. It applies mainly to Canadian or U.S. listed equities: http://www1.investorvillage.com/smbd.asp?m...amp;mid=2388964 Not sure about a brokerage for you as I am in the U.S. Interactive Brokers may allow UK accounts. IB is good for trading on many exchanges. The negative is the commission load on very low-priced equities.
drbubb
I will let you in on a secret, I track a bunch of junior stocks through a board on Advfn. Are you a member there? An advantage versus here, is they have "self-updating charts". I have created a thread to see the charts. Here's what is on it as of the latest revision: GLD - Gold Tracker. : 1867769 ..
