A Lithium Gamble That Could Win Big for Tesla | Fortune.com

Mar 29, 2016 - Tesla wants a supply of lithium to fill enough batteries to power 500,000 .... Additionally, because the lithium mining industry is dominated by just a few .... Pure Energy Minerals's shares are currently trading around 69 cents, ...

Big moves in FMC and SQM so far this year, riding rockets, maybe not too late with ALB that has some catching up to do.

How Would Brent Cook Invest $100k in 16? Invest Like Experts

    .Friday January 08, 2016

    BrentCook.jpg

    Expert: Brent Cook

Claim To Fame: Geologist & Editor of Exploration Insights, a junior mining investment letter whose portfolio returned +18% in 2014 and -6% in 2015.

Thoughts on the mining sector: The mining and exploration sector has been decimated over the past few years and is off over 80% from its highs, Brent Cook told Kitco News Friday.

Mining companies have experienced another tough year with more cost, production and exploration cuts as well as downsizing and mine closures, among other negative news.

The Gold Miners ETF Market Vectors (GDX), which tracks the performance of major gold mining companies listed on the NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index, has steadily been declining since 2012 and is currently at record lows. And, as Cook put it in his year-end newsletter, it is hard to find anyone positive on the sector even think there is a need for exploration.

This is as bad as I have seen it, and I see very few logical reasons to think it gets better anytime soon, he added. However, when asked how he would invest his money in the sector this year, Cook said he sees potential in three key areas.

For more on the mining sector, watch Brent Cooks 2016 outlook interview with Kitcos Daniela Cambone.

How would you invest $100,000 in the mining sector in 2016?

40% Mid-tier Precious Metal Producers with low cost production and legitimate exploration upside

Examples: Lake Shore Gold & Claude Resources

25% Prospect Generators with sufficient cash to last a couple of years, partners spending money, legitimate exploration concepts and honest management

Examples: Mirasol Resources, Reservoir Minerals, Riverside Resources, Aurion Resources, Lara Exploration, Miranda Gold, Evrim Resources

35% Very Early Stage Discoveries that may occur this year

What factor will affect the mining sector the most in 2016?

Metal prices andpolitical uncertainty then China, he said.

What is your New Years investment resolution for 2016?

One has to be very critical and brutal when evaluating exploration results and sell if your investment thesis begins to fall apart regardless of what your purchase price was, he said.

The key to making money in the junior mining sector is #1--Don't lose money and #2 always fact check a company's statements and data--sometimes they make things up, he added.

Trying to find Brent Cooks comments for this year.

His picks for 2016 were well above average

(Watching the slide in LRA did well in that, sold too early on "speeding ticket" last year, but not so early to current price).

Just popping in looking for inspiration ?

  4. AAZ H2 figures and production update was out today. this really is turnaround year.

Containing such snippets as increased production, lower cost efficiencies, more to follow through investment in operating equimpment eg 2nd mill, water purification, local electric sub station and also benefits from a hedge on half forecast gold production. Additional in country benefits of local currency devaluation as all earnings in U.S dollars.

There really was not much to like!

Shares touched new highs of 20p early in the day, settling at 19.5p :)

  5. Oh yes, been posting about it the last 6 months over on ADVFN, finally it's time has arrived.

From lows of of 4p this year, it's started moving fast the last few days. Turnaround is coming quickly here and well overdue.

    Making up for other disappointments.

AAZ touched the intraday 14p today, with little sign of sellers after a mini stock squeeze yesterday. Have to remember the IPO price for this.

Should be significantly raking it in this quarter, very bullish on this ones change in fortunes, without getting too carried away.

    LARA Exploration ... update

Been looking and Lara presentations and half like the core idea, particularly concentrating in existing areas they are set up and know. But tiny volumes possibly explained by no coverage of note. How these guys get a fan base will be as important as their field activities.

Yes I know one should look after the other, but barely any interest out there.

  8. Well done, Rigger,

I love strawberries, Can you grow cherries too?

Thanks. Yes cherry trees are dead easy, there is a problem however and it goes tweet, tweet. Afraid without netting the birds love them, so probably manage to salvage a jar or two, three if very lucky.

Barely worth the effort I'm afraid, but my wife loves them, so I resist the temptation to dig the tree up, just prune it to keep it manageable for now and the starlings tend to go for the sturdy branches, so I always head for the flimsy ones to crop; still end up throwing half away as they have been pecked already!

  9. Bump again

Success this year has once again been with the fruit, or rather Strawbs, I now have an ego boosting reputation as a top notch Strawberry grower, friends and family take "shoots" off me to cultivate their own little crops. Another tremendous yield for me as were the Raspberries now on about my 6th week of daily desert for the family; once again the damp weather seems to help.

Veg well the lettuce was ok, beets hmm so so, likewise Beans, tasted great but maybe not lasted that long. Going to stick some Leeks in today as last years lasted well into Winter and Spring even.

Just wish I had more space and time.

  10. (important in the long term?)

OIL DISCOVERIES - Decline to 20-year Low

+ Interestingly, the number of exploration wells drilled was down just 1%

Interested to hear your take on the importance drill rig figures. Keep seeing it mentioned that U.S figures are out x date and keep your eye on them blah, blah on various investment boards.

The simplistic view I get ie lower number of drills less oil discovered. But does it really affect the markets immediate future? Surely there is plenty of stuff in the can already proven to ride out yearly blips?

    Any thoughts?

  11. well done.

I will pick this up on another thread as well:

    http://www.greenenergyinvestors.com/index.php?showtopic=16127

Just my little bit towards being self sufficient, sadly I no longer have the land access to expand, my in laws sold up most of their land and farm house to a property developer, the offer was just too good.

My bit is almost hobby stuff, it's healthy, costs little money, a bit of time and gives plenty of satisfaction because it tastes great.

  12. Bump again.

Yet more white flowers on the Strawb patch, they are just endless. Raspberry canes coming through.

Sowed some Lettuce and Beets. Left rooms for Leeks which came through well into Spring. Kidney beans will go in later.

Stuck blueberries into pots, that can come indoors, as the birds like the taste too much.

Looking to try another veg but cannot decide which would be easiest. All looking good though for decent mini harvest so far.

  13. Another year on.

My reputation as an ameateur Strawb grower has been even further enhanced, probably because I'm not just giving strawbs away, but plants too as I try to control my patch.

Just when i'd had enough of them, yet another bumper crop of Raspberries that are still coming through, convinced they thrive in damp conditions.

Beets gone well, just never in abundance. Lettuce ok, but now trying a year round variety, not sure on taste, but hey it's lettuce.

Kidney Beans best year ever, think the trick is to keep them well watered. Ditched broad beans, work/reward ratio seemed poor return. Instead more leeks from seed which I'm well pleased with.

May try carrots again. Pondering that.

Hacked up Gooseberries and replaced with Blackberries, just yield more and I prefer the taste. Plus go great in crumbles, with apples or as breakfast filler with raspberries and yoghut mix.

Blueberries were a fail this year, birds got at them, new greenhouse position needed.

Overall good return for a little effort.

  14. My chin hurts with this one! FAILED me, down a good 50% from recent highs today.

Memo to self, keep away from AIM resource plays, generally they seem to milk the markets(or rather the ordainary mugs)

Just thought I'd add a note here, that taking a hit on FTE when I did, saved me in excess of a further 50% fall based on the current share price. Could have been a worse trade at present.

  15. My experience is they often disappoint after the whooping up on bulletin boards <_<

So far, they sorted the finance question of sorts, but nothing there for short term investors - the discussions had better yield a nice surprise or it's stick your chin out time.

    Should've quit when ahead

  16. Hiya - time will tell but recent experience on other stocks suggests AIM price moves might reflect news leaking out. Although my AIM stocks are mostly moving downwards for now.
