  1. Question for those in gold at present. Have any of you borrowed paper from a bank to buy bullion? Serious question.
  2. Great article from Hugo Salinas Price; News from the Galaxy
  3. Silver money for Americans Hugo Salinas Price More interesting articles regarding PMs as money at http://www.plata.com.mx/mplata/articulos/articles.asp
  4. I have been running a separate thread regarding some technical analysis indicators I am developing/testing, so far I've been using it on stocks, ETFs etc with some encouraging results. Without going into a long spiel it measures the value of a specific underlying in what I think may be a unique way that allows me to draw conclusions as to whether it is over or under extended in terms of current price. Part of the theory behind it is that a price will only be allowed to extend so far relative to other prices in the marketplace. Another way to look at it is this: If you think gold's true current market value should be $2000 then whilst that may or may not be a correct opinion, if it is correct then in my view that can only be correct where you have an environment with different prices for the dollar, commodities, bonds, stocks and currencies. My indicator is here in black, with GLD in blue Where I find a double top or bottom in my indicator, that leads to a sell or buy signal, respectively. Now before you all shoot me down, there is a very long term double top on my indicator and it has coincided with the recent high in gold. Only the very first double top coincided with a marked drop in the gold price, you will see the other double tops, whilst they resulted in drops, they have been muted, including this one so far. The double bottoms were nice buy points. I am more interested in double bottoms here, for entry points, I will post the next time I see one. And here again, this time on GDX, indicator in black, GDX in blue, a different set of double tops/bottoms. I only developed this in recent weeks, I didn't have it for the great entry into GDX it gave at the end of July. I was already long GDX and GDXJ from earlier anyway. Just a different slant on things.
  5. Is this a good buy in point? Who's buying here?
  6. I keep seeing charts posted of the GSR where below 30 or 40 isn't even on the chart; People cite the history of gold as money but what about the history of the GSR? From Silver-Investor.com The above suggests silver is dramatically undervalued relative to gold. Note that over the last millenium the GSR was far closer to the ratio of gold to silver found in the ground, the natural ratio if you like. Also; From http://www.dani2989.com (Dr Thomas Chaize energy and mining newsletter). In my view this is highly significant. So approx 58% of silver is mined as a byproduct of zinc, lead or copper mining. What this means is that if demand for industrial metals such as copper, zinc and lead falters then a reduction in mining for these metals results in a reduction of silver coming onto the market.
  7. What ratio do you think the gold/silver ratio could go to? I'm only in GM silver right now, I actually think there is a lot more upside to it than gold if a really serious hyper scenario develops, and that is appearing more likely as time goes on. I'm not as hardcore into PM's as some are, I have 33% of my liquid wealth in it. Gold already seems expensive (to those who don't understand it) but when I drop PM's into casual conversation no one seems to really understand why PM's are going up, I don't mention I have any so as not to influence people's opinions.
  8. Remortgaging drops to decade low record The curtains are being drawn on the mortgage equity release episode, it would seem, people are starting to wake up.
  9. No way, Realist Bear is the Jonathan Davis of Gold
  10. The rise in gold and silver has been almost a straight line, a disorderly rise could well induce panic, perhaps it's being carefully "managed".
  11. According to this curve then it appears to say gold in GBP has to be higher than £850 3 months from now otherwise the price will have pierced this curve it appears to be following. Would you say that's about right?
  12. Gross mortgage lending declines in August That's quite a stunning statistic given the UK base rate was 6% back in August 2000. Given the recent sharp MOM fall in prices this could really mark the start of the next journey downwards. Next report 20th October.

  14. I think back to your chart Pixel8r's lines and so far it has followed the script - very well done - can you post it again? Do you expect a pull back at $1350?
  15. Don't forget about the Japanese, they will pour some more Yen down the drain I'm sure. ABCD on AUD/USD, exact in price and time...
  16. Looks like a potential topping for gold. Quite comfortable with not owning any.
  17. Thanks for posting this, I just bought more physical silver on friday!
  18. There are some signs of people trying to flip properties in Glasgow. One that sold last year for £160K and is back on the market (with a coat of paint and some posh wallpaper) for offers over £190K. Another bought for £154K in May is back on the market with a new bathroom for £175K. EDIT - I definitely think Scotland has topped or is topping out now. Just reviewing some of the homes on sale and there are examples of some that are being offered at 15% - 20% more than peak - it's beyond belief.
  19. I purchased a home recently, in April this year, it could well have been an intermediate top (I sold my previous place in September '07). I may well have bought at the wrong point, I could well have been caught in the "bull trap" however I am not interested in the capital value. My girlfriend and I had been looking for 3 years for a home and finally, finally, we found it. Individually we are extremely fussy and difficult people so you can perhaps imagine why it took us so long to agree to buy. I post here really as a message to others to say, if you can cope with a serious increase in retail mortgage interest rates (ie greater than 10%) and you find a place you'd like to call home for the rest of your life, then perhaps it isn't such a bad idea after all, if you never plan on selling. We purchased 15% below peak (and I admit it was a large peak in context of the ever pervasive credit bubble), however we have found a place that is perfect for us. There are some elements of living here (Helensburgh, Scotland) that can't be defined using currency.
  20. Are you telling me that these guys didn't see a spoof when it came along, bit them on the arse, drew blood, pulled the red hot poker out the fire, and shoved it up their [redacted]? PS Forget Zimbabwe dollars, go for US ones
  21. Absolute zero, is that your projection? I had a look at the dictionary just to check my understanding of the word, There are an interesting variety of meanings; noun 1 an estimate or forecast of a future situation or trend based on a study of present ones : plans based on projections of slow but positive growth | population projection is essential for planning. 2 the presentation of an image on a surface, esp. a movie screen : quality illustrations for overhead projection. • an image projected in such a way : the background projections featured humpback whales. • the ability to make a sound, esp. the voice, heard at a distance : I taught him voice projection. 3 the presentation or promotion of someone or something in a particular way : the legal profession's projection of an image of altruism. • a mental image viewed as reality : monsters can be understood as mental projections of mankind's fears. • the unconscious transfer of one's own desires or emotions to another person : we protect the self by a number of defense mechanisms, including repression and projection. 4 a thing that extends outward from something else : the particle board covered all the sharp projections. 5 Geometry the action of projecting a figure. 6 the representation on a plane surface of any part of the surface of the earth or a celestial sphere. • (also map projection) a method by which such representation may be done. DERIVATIVES projectionist |-ist| noun ( in sense 2). ORIGIN mid 16th cent. (sense 6): from Latin projectio(n-), from proicere ‘throw forth’ (see project ). It looks like number one is the one your are referring to. "Projections are useless if they're more than 6 months in advance". The reason you equate projections with being useless is because in your mind projection equates to knowing the future. A projection is just an estimate of the future. Eg I recently projected that the Japanese yen would go down - that projection turned out to be the opposite of "useless"
  22. Did you get lost on the way to www.housepricecrash.co.uk again? Do you see that bar near the top of the screen, yes, that's it, it has www.greenenergyinvestors.com in it at the moment. What to do is click on that, and type in www.housepricecrash.co.uk, then press return. And voila, you will then be transported to a utopian world, full of like minded individuals.
