  1. I had no idea what the dandelion leaves meant, so you forced a google upon me. "There is an engaging legend about the origin of the dandelion. Centuries ago, a miser found a pot of gold. He decided to bury it where no one else would find it. He took the gold home, placed it in a sack and went to bed. During the night a mouse gnawed a hole in the sack. The next morning the miser took the sack into the woods to bury it. He was unaware of the hole in the sack and the gold dropped out, coin by coin. When the miser realized this he retraced his steps, intending to pick up the gold coins. However, he found that the coins had been turned into beautiful yellow flowers and were rooted to the ground. The wood sprites had overheard his plan to bury the gold and to punish him for his selfishness they had turned the gold into dandelions for everyone to enjoy and share." Is this why ?
  2. cheers Headmelter. I am going to have a sift through it for old times sake.
  3. GF, can you remember who started that GOLD thread on hpc ? or have you got a link I can't actually remember if it got deleted tbh. edited - & I think it did get deleted in the end, after being reinstated for a while
  4. been following it & posted once on it. I noticed that it hasn't dissappeared, this to me shows that they now know it is THE investment to hold, BUt can't bring themsleves around to saying it.
  5. gold aware but won't buy, sterling cash rich STR's, have got to be p1ssed off tonight surely.
  6. yes, local jewellers. but you would need to know your coins I suppose (or trust them) & you will be limited to small buys I would imagine. One local jeweller near me had a lot of 1oz & half oz gold coins (1oz kruggs mainly), but he said he also had some small gold bars. He also had loads of silver. unfortunately I didn't find out until after I had bought my first coins. edited - this would only apply on the buying side I would imagine (obviously).
  7. The fact that you could be right with that statement, is a sad image of exactly where we are today. multi-millionaire footballers ffs.
  8. bu55er, it must be true what Mrs GOM said about me having OCD tendencies, after just 2 seconds, I realised that the middle section of your rocket needs moving 1 millimetre to the right. on a seperate note, great creativity there & a bit of childsplay, I guarantee you don't work in either finance, IT or the public sector.
  9. I can't believe you haven't got a comment.

So thanks for all your help as well. Didn't realise I had missed you out GF, you deserve some recognition imo. cheers GOM

  10. he..he flat cap can laugh at himself, which is a good quality to have.
  11. Nice chart btw. Bonds. which one will burst, GOLD or BONDS? I know which one I can see & touch. ps - when I read your post, I did it in Kryton's voice (even when I tried not to) 'smugmode' alert from Kryton in Red Dwarf.
  12. this is where most of the TA's will get it wrong imo. The TA's who factor in experience & common sense at this point will get it right. what is it they say, anyone can make money in a bull market. The thing is, we are now in a bear market, an uber-bear market imho.
  13. yeah right: sell gold & buy treasuries so zero yield, yeah that's a great investment then. also, he says, hoard cash  fookw1ts. edited - my comments were aimed at the original posters link: this link
  14. you made a valid point actually, I was just kidding. edited - it does everyone good to keep looking at investments from all angles, keeps you on your toes. what else is there to invest in right now apart from pm's ?? some agricultural & energy stocks (excuse my ignorance here as I am not a TA ) ps - buy more metals....
  15. said by a guy who's avatar says 'pot o gold' I think you want it ALL for yourself & your trying to put us all off.
  16. actually Paddles, I thought that the LR had admitted that they didn't include repo's or auction property in their data, iirc ??
  17. when I said that the worst drops in the UK would be 90% I was laughed at. This would be new builds in the sh1tiest areas obviously. My minimum drops have always been 50%. Inflation adjusted will be difficult though won't it, without wage inflation & then with the old hyper doofer for basic living costs. Houses could drop more than 100% in real terms. Surely though, IR's have to go up in the medium term ?? ps - like the new avatar. You can tell a lot by a choice of a posters avatar imo.
  18. I have just re-joined as grumpy-old-man-returns to spread my joyous words of optimism & hope, ala 1930's &/or 1873 style.
  19. it's not done to badly over the last 50 years mind has it GF: "Okay, let's go back 50 years. Below is a what would have happened if your bought an ounce of gold in 1958: First bit is price of an ounce of gold in $; Second is price of an ounce of gold in £; Third is value of the equivalent dollar cash value of the ounce of gold held in cash and adjusted with respect to the US CPI; Fourth is the equivalent sterling cash value of the ounce of gold held in cash and adjusted with respect to the British RPI: Gold($) 1958: $35.10 2000: $273.60 2008: $876 Gold(£) 1958: 12.49 2000: 180 2008: 584 Cash($) 1958: 35.10 2000: 209 2008: 251.65 Cash(£) 1958: 12.49 2000: 137.5 2008: 167.77 It's clear what monetary store of value has performed the best over the last 50 years. " taken from the poster pistis original link is this anyone from here ?
  20. spot-on imo. It's like any of the bubbles, they start off slowly using the media to ingrain the populas BUT I don't think they will go quite the same route with gold (& neither do you I would imagine). I am assuming that they will use gold as the rescue package, reinstating the gold standard will appear to be the way out of the currency crash, BUT without making it appear a good investment to the general public. They will all be too skint to buy anything anyways after this one plays out. or will they just go for a completely new currency.......? or something entirely different ? we may not get ALL the outcomes right. but we know that when trust completely goes from the system (which it has imo), gold retains & gains in value. ???
