Subsequently, we have back engineered it, and then improved it. In some cases, ETs now want to take the human technology in trade.Some of this technology is not widely available on Earth, and it is now protected by patents. Other re-engineered technology is now widely available (like mobile phones?) and it is possible that it may include "back doors" that both NSA and ET's can use.
