Good move up in Lithium over the last 2 years - so it is time to start a new thread

. . . The US price looks different, but is also up

In addition, there is actually an ETF dedicated to investing in lithium related companies:

Global X Lithium ETF / LIT ... All-data : 5-yr : 2-yr : 6-mo / 10-d / composition: 15 stocks (94.5%) : 8/28: $33.09

Likely resistance at LIT- $28 and $32, if we get there

Near $4,500, prices now should be ahead of costs for many companies

Here are a few of the lithium mining companies included in the Global X Lithium ETF:
  • Sociedad Quimica y Minera (SQM),
  • FMC Corp (FMC), which underwent an 30% expansion in their lithium division in 2012.
  • Talison Lithium Ltd. (TSX: TLH), a leading producer of lithium with projects in Australia and Chile.
  • > more:

Following the tough year, lithium stocks saw a mixed year through 2012.

A look at a chart of the most recognizable names in the business —

China BAK, Exide, Johnson Controls, Maxwell Technologies, etc. — illustrates this perfectly:

Lithium co's: CBAK, ENS, XIDE, KI, ACPW, MXWL, ULBI

Big moves in FMC and SQM so far this year, riding rockets, maybe not too late with ALB that has some catching up to do.

An unconventional lithium play with vast potential

image: http://www.stockhouse.com/getattachment/a122021e-c76c-4c09-b9a9-3906ed97b7ad/s-1.jpg

s-1.jpg

1. Introduction

After watching prices of lithium products soar at the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016 on the back of a starting paradigm shift from internal combustion engine (ICE) powered vehicles towards electric vehicles (EV) needing lots of lithium-ion batteries, and seeing these prices consolidating as the first hype wore off, it seems more and more likely that the EV movement isn't going anywhere soon. Large manufacturers and countries with huge potential markets like China are steering towards a EV dominated market in the not too distant future, and statements like this have initiated a second frenzy towards lithium products. It looks like the paradigm shift is here to stay, and EV will actually be the new reality. As lithium product prices are going up again as demand further increases, so do almost all lithium mining companies, and it looks like a good moment for a new junior like Cypress Development Corp. (CYP:TSX.V) to join the party.

The company is looking to explore and develop two large and promising claystone projects in Nevada, both adjacent to Albemarle Corp.'s (ALB:NYSE) lithium brine operation, under the guidance of strong management. Although my first reaction to the story was

an old mining adage: "when it's clay, go away," as clay often causes recovery issues,

Lithium  stocks are all much cheaper now - Some could be interesting

NLC / Neo Lithium ... update : 10d / Last  $0.58

mWmdoIh.gif

The arrival of a pilot plant adds to the already brisk pace of what a Canaccord Genuity report described as "the best undeveloped lithium brine project globally."

1.jpg

Neo Lithium Corp. (NLC:TSX.V) successfully brought to Catamarca, Argentina, the pilot plant for its Tres Quebradas (3Q) lithium brine, adding a new milestone to a project characterized by its brisk pace, according to a February 14 research report by Canaccord Genuity analyst Eric Zaunscherb.

Zaunscherb reiterated his speculative buy rating for Neo Lithium and also a target price of CA$2 per share.

Neo Lithium's pilot plant arrived at the Argentinian province of Catamarca without delays or issues at customs. Engineers are currently reassembling the plant. The management intends to have it fully operational by the end of this month, Zaunscherb explained.

The aim of Neo Lithium's 3Q project is to produce high-grade lithium carbonate from its brine reservoir complex in Catamarca.

"The 3Q project, in our view, is the best undeveloped lithium brine project globally based on grade, chemistry and scale," Zaunscherb highlighted.

The arrival of the pilot plant is the most recent of the project's "brisk pace" development, according to Zaunscherb's report. Before the arrival of the plant, Neo Lithium completed the first environmental license renewal of the project.

The provincial government of Catamarca issued the environmental license, a requirement for the exploration and the development of the 3Q's lithium brine. The license must be renewed every two years.

Neo Lithium plans to complete the prefeasibility study of the project during the first quarter of 2019, explained Zaunscherb.

Keep an eye on LAC for next year.

Used to trade them under Western Lithium days but missed the spike 12 months or so back as had given up on lithium plays. The near term projects are interesting for me.

LAC on a long downward slide I can’t see reversing until the back end of 2020

So there were some decent spikes on lithium miners Monday, I’ve been tracking a few all week. Most eased back a chunk of the gains.

However, next time somewhere like the U.K makes a significant announcement on car control plans, like the 2035 date published last weekend, I have a list of contenders to jump on.

Top of it is Galaxy (ASX:GSY) who gained 17% on Monday.
