  1. silver ends on £14 an ounce, £450 a kilo. Nice...
  2. It woz a pint glass..... Its nothing compared to the excesses of the banks.... Lets face it what is the odd trillion or quadrillion these days eh?? Golds in a bubble though!!
  3. Sorry, I got slightly over excited after some early afternoon wine, having listened to Jermey Vine BBC Radio2 at work....A strong coffee and I'm OK now..... He said at 1:22, after the song, that bailing out the biggest bank will cost as much as Ireland takes in tax for the whole year. I might be stupid, but Im not deaf!! Eh, woot did he say????? Please tell me I'm wrong.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00tw...Vine_30_09_2010
  4. Goldfinger, remind me of the true value of silver, how many ounces for a house? Ive been buying shedloads recently, I will let you all know the details once the transactions are complete. Ive been buying well below spot and a great story to tell..........
  5. LOL they have to be taking the piss!!! Irish banks need a bail out of over 100% gdp for just one bank!! One bank!! And yet the euros rallies!!! I'll have gold thanks!!!~(and silver on a more serious note) hahaha!!! lol!!!
  6. http://www.arabianmoney.net/gold-silver/20...form-5000-gold/ $320 Silver? Im not selling mine until £100 at least....
  7. On Simon Mayo, radio 2 today, about 5.33pm theres talk about Gold. They have interview with Adrian Ash from BV. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00ts...time_21_09_2010 About 29 mins in...
  8. What do you guys think? Silver is less than half its all time highs of 1980. Do you think it will slowly climb up with gold at a slightly higher rate as the ratio improves in silvers favour or will it spike up and establish a new level? Gold is on a record high of $1282 at this moment and silver is on a 2 1/2 year high of $21, but to be comparable, it needs to be about $60 to be as impressive as gold right now.
  9. Indeed. Why tell a complete stranger what you have a where you have it, what sort of security locks you have, even where its stored in the house! Also, I dont get why some people get all worked up about the VAT on silver. Pre 1947 silver sells at about spot including postage on feebay pre 1920 silver sells just over spot including postage on feebay Bullion coins sell on ebay for much the same price as bullion dealers sell them for (CID, ATS, Sarnia) So what difference does it make, unless you plan to sell back to a dealer? Theres a 2.5 % increase in bullion prices when VAT goes up.
  10. interesting article about testing gold for fakes. Good if your new to gold. http://beforeitsnews.com/story/0/563/Real_...Difference.html
  11. I posted this over on the hyperinflation thread but Im not sure where best to post it. This is a must listen. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00tn..._Ming_Banknote/ Paper money. The history of paper money. Stuff we already know here but interesting item from the MSM. Merv says that we thought that paper money was fail proof but the last 5 years has questioned that belief. (or words to that affect) Merv says things I doubt you would ever hear at his mansion house speeches.
  12. Our rent is 1/824th the price of the house I live in. its much cheaper than just the interest if I had an interest only mortgage thingy.
  13. Silver looks good to take out $20 and make a big move up. Does anyone else see cup with handle in USD silver chart? The bottom of the cup is at $10 and the top at $20 which implies a powerful move up to $30.
  14. Its just a 1kg Libertad for £512.49...... Shame its not BOGOF......
  15. Just down the park. Im going to have to ask some farmers to search their land. I know of a few so hopefully they will say yes. The council park inspecter came and asked me if had got permission to do it. I said no and he said "it is private property and I should ask the owner, the council". I said I thought that the park was a public recreational area and that the park belonged to the people and that the council belongs to the people. I pay over £2000 a year in council tax FFS! Its even called "the peoples park" He was alright in the end and said he dident mind me doing it as I was not causing any damage from what he could see. So I rang up and asked permission when I got home and the parks manager said no, as it might open the floodgates for others to do it. The usual BS if every one did that....Thats why its not worth asking permission as the answer is always no as they cant go wrong with that answer. Some oldish woman said to me today, "excuse me, this is a public park. Do you think you ought to be doing that?" I said "I am the public" She said "if every one did that the park would be a right mess" I said "Everyone isn't doing it so whats your problem?". This country has really gone facist. Im doing no more harm than a footballer with studs on his boots. I told her to get a life and go away. Really pi$$es me off. To be fair, a number of people came up to me and asked if I had found anything and were really interested in what I had found, which restores my faith in humanity a bit! All the same, I found loads of coins, over a hundred now, a silver ring, a silver picture frame about 7 grams, and about £20 in modern money, lots of very old pennies and 1/2 pennies and best of all so far, two silver shillings and a sixpence. Its been good practise and Im really familliar with the dector now and can narrow down the item to about 3 inch location, and I have this probe that locates the coin in the small hole. I can find a coin in about 1 min. After a few months (if the wife does not divorce me) I will make a utube video of all my finds and post a link. Perhaps I will try to film any confrontations I have as that will add to the entertainment value and wind up the buggers even more!
  16. Its amazing how modern coins rust, old 1900 pennys and 1/2 pennys are this lovely green colour and the .925 1909 edwardian sixpence came out clean and bright. A great lesson for the children on the difference of real money and fake. Im rather addicted to metal detecting now!
  17. Interesting program on bbc2 at the moment, digging for Britain. About a hoard of coins dug up in somerset
  18. I went out metal detecting with my son and he found a very nice silver sixpence. We found lots of old pennys, 1/2 pennys and old coins, as well as modern ones, about 70 in total. not bad for a days detecting?
  19. Err, chicken feed. Gold needs to have a much higher value in fiat.
  20. The sellers are definately drying up which may be a fair representation of the big markets. I think that prices will have to move alot higher to bring the next round of sellers out. I bid on all pre 1920 british coins just over spot including postage and a bit more if spot is low, else you dont win anything! I've not bothered with pre 1947 yet as I dont like the look of the tarnish on them. I rarely get crowns as they always sell way above spot. The larger the quantity, the closer they sell to spot, so when I sell, I will sell in small lots. I also buy silver proof crowns and occasionally £2 proofs but only up to about £13.00 and even thats too high. I dont bother with bullion coins or bars anymore as they are too expensive.
  21. I too am getting a Garrett Ace 250. What do you think of it? They seem to be the most popular metal detector.
  22. Check these babies out. I think they are a bargain, cheaper than they cost in 1977. Proof finish by the royal mint, historical coins and yet an eagle, a maple or even a brittania goes for a much higher price. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT
  23. Is there any metal detectorists here? Ive just ordered one and we are looking forward to going out and finding stuff. I will be detectoring and the wife and kids will be digging! How is the gold panning going chris ct? I think theres more chance of finding gold with a detector than a pan. Fancy a competion?
  24. Gold is looking rather buoyant. Are you still confident of lower prices at the end of the month DrBubb?
