I stumbled across this video, which talks about an iconic new tower planned for BGC The Icone Tower - The Light of Manila (in Fort Bonifacio Global City BGC) Published on 23 Jun 2017 This a new upcoming project in Bonifacio Global City beside UPTOWN MALL by BCDA and Henning Larsen HongKong - THE ICONE TOWER MANILA. This would give the neighborhood community in Uptown Bonifacio a sense of prime location to WORK-LIVE PLAY & SHOP. This will serve as a new benchmark to the skyscrapers in Metro Manila and would revolutionize the way we picture the skies. Claude Bojer Godefroy (Partner and Design Director) - Bonifacio Global City will soon work on a very special building it will transform its image and become a new focal point of Manila. I think its a good idea to add more character in the business district that have few distinctive buildings, I think its a good idea to make a statement about building in Manila today, a statement about being generous with public space, about giving back to the city and of course to its people, a statement about filipino architecture is about, but first we have to understand what makes the ICONE successful. Invest NOW in Uptown Bonifacio, BGC!! 1BR unit starts at P15k per month!! 2BR/3BR starts at P20k per month!! "We call the top part, "The Light of Manila". How, er, Luciferian can you get? haha There is a SSC thread: BGC | Icone Tower - The Light Of Manila (BCDA's Iconic Tower ... www.skyscrapercity.com › ... › Metro Manila Projects on the Rise › Taguig Jun 6, 2017 - 20 posts - 17 authors Wow, this will surely be one of the icons of Manila once built. Witty din ng name, ICONE Tower, hehe. Now PNOC has to level up the design ... Comments: Grand Hyatt's ground to roof deck height is 258m while Icone Tower's height is 301m. The former's official height including the spire is 318m while the latter is yet to be known but may challenge Eiffel Tower at 326m since the upper most level will serve as the observation deck and topmost will be the location of searchlights to illuminate at night time / 2 / Can they build that icons tower in the huge lot between montane and Turf. Euro Chocozone Buyer
Manila to be the last 20th megapopulated city by 2100 in the entire Asean area / Developed World / North Asia / Europe / The Americas https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-06-27/mapping-worlds-20-most-populous-cities-2100 All the other megapopulated cities in the developed world will disappear due to population decline. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Well if you believe that people are "the wealth of a nation" than Manila should win it easily. Manila is the best of the KLAMNBD cities. K = Kolkata, Chennai, Karachi, Kabul, Cairo, Khartoom, Kinshasa, L = Lahore, Lagos, Lusaka, Lilongwe A = Addis Ababa M = Mumbai, Manila, Mogadishu N= Nairobi B = Bagdad, Blantyre City D = Delhi, Dhaka, Dar-es-Salam The fact that all the megacities in Europe, The Americas and North Asia drop off of this list does not bode well for long term real estate investments in these areas. Just my two cents...
Euro Chocozone Buyer
There's more to this. (from Ned Davis Research) http://info.ndr.com/demographics If you download the map of the globe you will see that most of the developed world has a red color. India, and most of Latin America have an orange color, and there are only 4 countries in the entire Eurasian landmass which have the green color: PH, Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan and Iraq. Most subsaharan countries are green as well. So Manila has been given the green light as well by this metric. Now I have read reports about real estate values collapsing in Toronto, NYC, London and all these "developed" places. So while they collapsed (and continue to collapse) into the abyss - RED COLOR -, MNL is still going strong. Maybe this is the message of this map. Remember: there has been an "off the richter scale" price increase in condominium unit prices in MM NCR in 4Q 2017, according to the BSP.

drbubb
Are some of these folks eyeing PH for investments? Hong Kong Passes New York as (official) Home to Most Ultra-Rich.. New York has lost its crown as home to the most ultra-rich people, beaten out by the rising tide of extreme wealth in Asia. Hong Kong surpassed the Big Apple as the city with the highest population of people worth at least $30 million, according to a new report. The former British colony saw its number of ultra-wealthy increase 31 percent last year, to about 10,000... higher than the nearly 9,000-strong population of the U.S.’s largest city. Tokyo came third. / 2 /Meantime, Colliers is promoting Manila Bay as a possible location for Luxury Condos. Perhaps that will sell better to foreigners, like HK;s wealthy, better than Filipinos. But the problem will remain, where does "the hard side" come from? Developers need to sell 60% to locals, and those PH buyers eager to buy Luxury Condos in M-Bay may not be easy to find. ==

drbubb
FALSE: Philippines was ‘richest country in Asia’ during Marcos years Economic indicators show that the country was not even the richest in Southeast Asia from 1965 to 1986 Claim: The Philippines was the “richest country in Asia” during the administration of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, according to Facebook page Ka Rex Cayanong. Rating: FALSE The facts: The Philippines never became the “richest country in Asia” during the time of Marcos. Looking at data on each country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and GDP per capita, two universal indicators of a nation’s prosperity, the country was never the richest even in Southeast Asia. When Marcos came to power in 1965, the Philippines’ GDP per capita (average income per person) was only 3rd highest in Southeast Asia, next to Singapore and Malaysia. By 1986, the country’s ranking even fell further to 5th place – trailing behind Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. Made with Flourish The country's GDP was also only 2nd highest next to Indonesia for the majority of Marcos' term, but it slipped to 3rd rank and was overtaken by Thailand in 1984.
