aliveandkicking
By looking at real interest rates and the important ratios (DOW/gold etc.). So if the dow is artificially supported or it falls tomorrow you will have already positioned yourself in advance? Some things are unknowable You can follow the trends but not know what will happen - unless you believe in black magic or have a Finnish elf guardian. I am not excluding the power of those things however. But you are saying you can use some kind of process to know what the price should be. If you think like an economist you will know the future because of what happened in the past.

Pluto
may I request we change the title again from its current Gold Bulls - "Clawing the Sky" to Central Banksters "Looking like F***wits"? The title should be: "how to shake out the paper gold traders with stupid stops"...
G0ldfinger
The title should be: "how to shake out the paper gold traders with stupid stops"... I adjusted the subtitle a little - Bubb* might want to change it back. New subtitle: Support levels, bounces, and how to get stopped out of your gold Original subtitle: Let's talk support levels, and bounces here EDIT: * Let's hope he won't ban me for my naughtiness. EDIT2: OK, I will change it back because it doesn't seem right. Pluto, why don't you start a new thread (without offensing words)?

I think stops are stupid, they are for the folk who don't know what they are doing, short term traders (gamblers), and show the market makers what your hand is. Nothing offensive about that - is there?

Maybe you should read this - seriously I found this thought provoking and possibly worthwhile http://www.dailywealth.com/archive/2009/nov/2009_nov_04.asp interesting results of trading with the 9 month moving average and gold. Still gold wont go below the 9m m/a for years yet.......... right ?

Pluto
$1,200.20 as I'm writing. Hopefully the shorts will now pile in again. Off course not forgetting their obligatory stop orders that provide the bulls with more rocket fuel.
FWIW
The real Faber: http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article15459.html Quote Speaking at a conference in Singapore on Wednesday, Faber said: "The crisis has not solved anything. On the contrary there is less transparency today than there was before. The government's balance sheet is expanding, and the abuses that have led to the one cause of the crisis have continued". "I think eventually there will be a big bust and then the whole credit expansion will come to an end," Faber added. "Before that happens, governments will continue printing money which in time will lead to a very high inflation rate, and the economy will not respond to stimulus". In one of his Gloomiest predictions, Faber, referred to as Dr. Doom, said "the average family will be hurt by that, and then in order to distract the attention of the people, the governments will go to war". "People ask me against whom? Well, they will invent an enemy," Faber said. "At some stage, somewhere in future, we will have a war – that you have to be prepared for. And during war times, commodities go up strongly,” said Faber. "If you want to hedge against war, you don't want to own derivatives in UBS (UBS) and AIG (AIG), but you have to own them physically, like farmland and agricultural commodities. That is something to consider for you as a personal safety and hedge. You have to own some commodities," he added. Got Gold?

The alternative is the Chinese or the Muslims, if that happens Im moving to the planet Zorg.

Vegas is a much better place to be gambling; free drinks and pretty girls to amuse you while you pockets get lighter.
