Yes, I doubt if the SWFs will come back in and buy F&F bonds which the govt is desperately hoping. Why would they?

Looks bad for the dollar. Is this where monetization starts? :o

No. It is where monetization accelerates :)

I also wonder whether the history of Northern Rock might not reapeat itself...

That group is now doing everything it can (raising interest rates, offering smaller percentage loans, etc) to decrease the number of mortages it backs. This is because it wants to lower its obligations and claw back cash to increase is reserves. Everyone except those with really bad credit rating are moving on to other lenders. But moving on to another lender won't be such an easy option shou8ld F+F start acting like NR, since F+F are behind over half of all US mortgages. So could this mean that the bale out is actually going to depress rather than stimulate the US housing market over the next few years? ...hmmmmm <_<

We all know where gold is going medium to long term, don't worry, this is actually good news. We're at least going to see $680 again IMO, but I would prefer to see $620, fingers crossed. I hope it gets whacked to death, then I am all/mostly in with my STR fund.

I wish I shared your conviction.

Maybe.

Just bought some gold & silver.

Expect massive drops.

I ordered 100 ounce silver coins over the weekend. I will wait until the end of the week before I pay for them in case the price drops, in which case I will reorder and cancel existing order ;) That way I wont be too disappointed if it does fall further!

Who on earth lets you order and cancel like that? Most of em tie you in once you've placed an order...

I also ordered 100 silver from coininvest, can I cancel if the price drops without any bother?

If I couldn't read posts like the last one, I'd think I was the only one who thought this way, and would think it must be me going mad.

It's nice to know it's not me that's mad :D

Just watching the mainstream media (web, tv, radio..) and the sheeple.. it just feels like watching bizarro-world..

here is my outlook for this week-next tuesday:

silver beaten more, more volume on the downside, looking for 10.50 as the lowest price until 16 sep (will be buying if i get it)

eur/usd is going to 1.3300 , but it is likely to get some rest at 1.3800

oil: I almost believe it bottomed at 105, but wont be buying until eur hits the desired targets

gold: will be looking for confirmation of double bottom at 780 area, confirming the low of 15 aug

basicaly, preparing for a rally next week, as I believe after FEDs meeting dollar will be sold out no matter whatever decision they will take. not yet for reversal , though, only a retracement for about 2 weeks period, the reversal i think will be after elections.

GoldMoney Alert - 7 September 2008

Does the Buck Stop Here?

James Turk

http://www.goldmoney.com/en/commentary/2008-09-07.html

The US Dollar Index has bounced back into major over-head resistance. This resistance arises because it marks the previous low in the Dollar Index.

No one can predict the future, and this short analysis is not an attempt to do so. Instead, it simply highlights that there are meaningful reasons to suggest that the bear market rally in the dollar stops here, and by implication, the correction in the precious metals stops here too.

pardon my ignorance, but wtf!!

I was 1 day late with payment on a brits order and I got a shirty (automated in fairness) e-mail asking where the funds were, so I think they have taken a shine to you azazel, cos I cannae get away with canceling an existing order.

Maybe I'm mistaken then. I have made some large purchases so perhaps they were easy on me. She sounds a babe so maybe you are right about the shine :)

If they did let you cancel an order I wouldn't abuse it

I don't know about coin invest having not used their service but I find these questions on this thread bizarre! If the price doubled and they cancelled your order before delivery, I imagine you would be somewhat peeved!

When you placed your order, you took a price - live with it!

Near/about USD-80 is important resistance IMO

yes, this is what I am hoping for, to be honest

I've already invested all the money I'd intended to on gold and silver, and it amounts to between 10 and 15% of my proverbial life savings.

I think it's fairly unlikely that I'll be putting any more (or perhaps much more) into it. Shame really as I'd've been better off all round spending my 10 to 15% now rather than over the last few months.

I guess this highlights that, when it comes to the alleged long-term bull in gold and silver, I lack conviction, and I'm still just a wishy-washy 'neither'... :(

$680 -- Are you really sure that you wouldn't run around like a headless chicken, quoting Prechter and Mish (and RB) all the time, screaming you're only going to hold Dollars from now on?

If James Turk is right about the dollar bear market rally ending, then I would be very surprised to see pog fall below 770 ish

An accelerating selloff.

Do they know what they are doing?
